Boba Fett Customizations/Modifications: Image Thread

Has anyone stripped the paint off a TOMY helmet? If so what did you use?

I would recommend just painting over it after a layer of primer. I never succesfully stripped paint of a sculpt without melting it.

i would just paint over the current stuff,but the helmet is wrong in shape and size for 1/6 scale boba anyway!i got 1 on ebay,and it was a bad buy
here is what i did:i bought a marmit boba(70 €!) just to use the helmet!! i popped it in shape with some subtile heat use.very soft material.than i made a silicone cast-form of the helmet.used some clear dental plastic material to cast it,but did not work to my full satisfaction.than i used a different polymer(it helps if you are a dental technician,) ,worked much better.i liked the shape of the cast even better.than i painted the first cast with some primer and than a layer of silver.i am working out what colors to use.well after some tries with some different colors(combination of revell,humbrol,hobby line) and mixtures,i am getting closer.i just did not like SSC choice of colors for the helmet,as well his shape

changed the color a bit more,another attempt!
i think it looks not too shabby.mixed hobby line colors matt white and russian green matt. i read that some dented helmet guys use cockpit green from humbrol for the dome and cheeks,but i cant find that stuff in any hobby shop in my neighbourhood.
dont look so much at the painting quality,its just about the right color

great,why could SSC match the colors on the lifesize bust,but not on the 1/6 scale boba? now we have to do all the painting

Good Gracious! I have SS Boba in my cart at Hastings right now, but after seeing some of these mods going on and what needs to be done to make it look acceptable, I think I better not pull that trigger!

I think it's fine out of the box. People are just making a good figure better.

Agree to disagree. It's not 150/200$ nice. SS is not Hot Toys. When a 6 year old medicom figure is still being favored by some you know somethings wrong.

Just got an ROTJ Medi Boba and Marmit ESB off eBay for cheap. Still need to pick up a SS Boba to compare all of them.

well,you should use the marmit helmet for the SSC boba,a little fixing her and there,and it is perfect.in my opinion looks better than SSC's

Yup thats why I got it. Saw yours and had to find a cheap one.

well,the latest on my boba helmet modifcations/improvement
i repainted the original marmit helmet,and also painted my selfcasted marmit helmet completely.the copy is not finished,but getting close.i really like it much better than SSC's.the photos show all three helmets and also boba on different bodies.the colors are actually a bit off through the flashlight

Colours look a lot better!

I tried the Marmit helmet on my SS. Looks pretty good.
