Your Boba looks pretty good, K.S., but seeing this photo reminded me of how my figure looked as I was still trying to decide whether the Medicom or Sideshow parts looked best.

As much as I liked having the separate SSC sash and codpiece, it made the figure look too bulky around the waist, so I ultimately went back to using the Medicom one which molded the two parts together. I also had to trim about 3/4" off the utility belt to make it fit more tightly as well as remove the fuzzy Velcro patch and used fabric glue to attach it to the shortened end of the belt, as you can see here:

I also tried using parts of the SSC armor, but not only found the shade of green matched poorly with the Medicom parts, but the gauntlets didn't fit well onto the slim Truetype forearms. And, since the Sideshow back armor also didn't cover up the Velcro strip on the Medicom vest, that also meant pulling the rocket backpack from the Medicom back armor, taking the straps off the Sideshow back armor, cutting some small slits to accommodate the wider straps, and gluing the straps onto the Medicom armor in order to use the much nicer Sideshow rocket pack.

But the scariest step I took was deciding the Sideshow neck-wrap was too thick and made of material that didn't match the rest of Boba's outfit, so I made a collar by cutting the one from the Medicom jumpsuit, sewing it closed, and fitting that around the bbi neck. This was the real point of no-return for me.

In all honesty, if I'd known from the beginning how much time, money and effort it would take to get my Boba Fett to where it is, I don't know if I would have done it. However, I am pretty pleased with how it turned out and more than happy to help out any parties willing to do the same thing, just to save them some frustration and/or heartache.

Anyone tried removing the wire from the Sideshow poncho so that it hangs more naturally?

I actually put a wire on my Medi because I like how the Sideshow's is posable. :lol

Also, I will tell you right now that it will not have a flow. Sideshow's material is very thick.

I use Sideshow's sash and belt. Looks fine to me. I really like how you did the Jetpack from Sideshow though.. :rock :)

Thanks for all the detailed info you wrote here PJB, its a great read! Your SSC/Medi bash was the first one I saw on here and convinced me that my extra SSC Boba might be of some use.

Yea the SSC sash is definitely nice but I agree about the bulkiness. My figure posted above is actually a version 2.0 of sorts. The first bash I did used the Medicom codpiece but I felt it was just a little too small and made the jumpsuit bulge out at the thighs because the fit was so tight. The drawback with the SSC piece though is that its incredibly fragile and every time I pose the figure I run the risk of snapping the codpiece again. In some screenshots Boba Fett looks like he has a little bulk around the torso, in others not so much. To me it just depends on which angle you can view the figure at. I love the work on the utility belt though, I may have to try that.

I also tried using parts of the SSC armor, but not only found the shade of green matched poorly with the Medicom parts, but the gauntlets didn't fit well onto the slim Truetype forearms. Nice work :clap

Yea, that's definately the point of no return. I read before how you had to cut the neck wrap from the Medi but I wasn't prepared to do any irreversible mods. The SSC neck wrap works well for mine because the figure doesn't actually have a neck :wink1: I used the bbi neck but I couldn't get the range of motion I wanted with hit. I noticed Boba Fett tends to have his chin jutted forward (weight of the helmet?) in the movie a lot, which to me might explain a lot of the perceived changes in the width of the helmet. The camera lens has a lot to do with that too of course.

In all honesty, if I'd known from the beginning how much time, money and effort it would take to get my Boba Fett to where it is, I don't know if I would have done it. Tell me about it :slap It's a slippery slope once you start swapping parts and studying screenshots. about the only un-tampered part I have left to part out to recoup some money is the SSC helmet. I think it's really just a testament to the attention to detail we all share, and just how big of fans we are of these movies. It's also nice to pay respect to the work that the films crew had to do back in the day with costumes and such. It's too bad most of that gets lost today with all the CGI replacing good old fashioned practical effects.

One of the members here found a facebook posting indicating HT is only allowed to release one SW figure per year. It is a legal limitation because Sideshow is the primary 1:6 license holder and HT is sub-contracting. I'm sure HT would love to do more SW if they could, it's a money faucet.

:horrorAre you @*#$% kidding? Not sure that is widely known - put it in your Sig! That's really shocking and pretty damn bad news for SW collectors.

I really love the idea of making your own 'ultimate' version of a character, using existing parts, a bit of know how &.. courage. :lol It's quite a daunting task though, not to mention EXPENSIVE.

The most I've done to date, is swap the SSC Endor Commando outfit onto a HT TT. :yess: :lol

I, also thought the SSC sash was a bit bulky when placed over the Medi cod piece. Someone had wrapped yarn around the medi (can't remember who) that might be a good solution if you definitely don't want plastic. I ended up painting mine with a bit more red/brown, painting the top areas that were still green. It separates out more.

Did the same. Prefer the sash over it still. Maybe ill sand it down someday.

I was the one that wrapped the ROTJ Medi sash but it was with embroidery thread from Michaels not yarn. If I were going to use the Sideshow sash on a Medi, I would sand the molded plastic sash off the Medi cod plate.

Wow... I don't visit this thread like in 2 months and then I come back to see that the Medi Fett has taken over!! I thought everyone was happy with their Sideshow Fett with a slim TT body and just a few mods.:dunno
:lol

Still think that looks great, Natrix!

yep thats it, you can find long ankle pegs from nick fury/cap america on ebay if you feel you need em too

Cool, thanks, mortifactor. I might just leave him a little short as I like his fatigues to be a bit on the baggy side. Just depends on whether he ends up looking out of place with the other figures, I guess.

Really glad Hot Toys finally released these TTs to market again so that e.Bay can be avoided.

Are the extra long pegs for height, or to get the boots articulated properly? I've been contemplating this conversion as well, but the biggest draw for me is to make his boots/ankles work. So far I think I've only seen one or two folks with poses showing off the added articulation.
Anyone know if the straight conversion gives you movement at the ankle or do th still need longer pegs?
