I used an X-Acto on mine and it worked pretty good if you're careful and don't push too hard. I have a pair of those scissors but was difficult to get under the plastic and I didn't want to pop off a rivet by pulling on the plastic too hard.

I'd say mine came out okay from the alteration. Still plan to mess with it a bit to get it just right though. I've yet to do any sort of water treatment. Only cut the excess plastic under the vest.

I have to say, this is the very first time in my life (and after about 60 dolls) that I have ever modified one, and with an exacto knife too.

I got my doll today and he had a bit of the Lego chest and the middle of this chest was concave too. I had to try something. So I stripped him (be careful of that left gauntlet with blasters) and tried the mod that Apone highlighted on page 11. I was nervous as heck cutting all that excess plastic out.

I didn't cause any serious damage and I think it came out good. No more concave chest. I suggest being careful not to cut too close to the plugs to maintain SOME of the structural integrity the whole solid piece provided. The offset in flexibility was worth it however.

Sorry for the crummy phone picts put you get the idea.

Thanks Apone!

Like just normal scissors used for cutting hair? That's it?

Why not just pull the plastice piece free and add a new custom shaped plastic piece? If I'm correct the rivets are just glued on?? Use flexible plastic similar to what sideshow uses to secure the necks of the figures. Same thickness I mean.

I am gonna dirty up the material used in the chest piece - looks a little too new, and that is gonna help it to blend in a bit more, but all in all, looks good with these mods

They aren't so much "rivets" as they are are just plastic pegs that go through the vest and the plastic backing and them appear to have been melted down flat (mushroomed) over the plastic backing.

You've been a member since 2005.... and never modded? :slap

Finally....

I've "generally" been happy with the stock products from Sideshow (I won't talk about ANH Han and Luke and Ceremony Luke is dead to me) but otherwise been happy....

Until tonight when I pulled the Fett out and saw is concaved chest armor. I was filled with Fett rage, scooped up a blade and, like Noman Bates, went to town on that little piece of plastic....

And I would not dirty up the chest pieces. Outside of the flat ab plate they are good to go. They have the right amount of wear on them

Is there any way to fix his collar armor to not ride so close on Boba's top left chest piece?

If I understand correctly what you are referring to, then the answer is yes. It's a very easy (2 min) fix. Just simply unscrew the back (green) plate (which is also the collar piece) and reposition it to your liking, and then simply hold it in place while you re-screw it to the figure :wink1:

Also, has anyone else read that those are not Wookie but Padawan braids? A part of me kinda likes that. :lol

I like the wookiee story better. I came across this in a Star Wars insider (issue 124, pg 17).
