You know what...people need to stop posting on this board demanding that a piece conforms to what they want. If you don't like the figure that's fine but don't come on this board and demand that the next piece conforms to your standard, like not having a poseable head in the future. I for one love that feature and it's cool on a piece like Boba Fett.

What you don't like may be the one reason someone else purchased the piece. We all have different tastes so if you don't like it send it back but don't try to speak for all of us and say it should be done differently next time.

Seems to me that people are expressing their personal opinions to Sideshow here and are not speaking for everyone. Unlike those people that are demanding people NOT speak their mind, which in my opinion is an attempt to squelch our basic rights of free speech. Really, if you don't like the posters comments, retort with a comment why but please don't gripe that the comments shouldn't be made to begin with. That's why we're posting in a discussion forum. If no one posted their opinions here, there wouldn't be any posts at all.

Terry,

I think your photos show just how nice and "PREMIUM" this item is.

Kookie's post maybe rubbed ya the wrong way (that's understandable) but your reply especially this part drips with an aristocratic tone. Which suprises me cause your a cool and calm type of guy. So maybe he does like the collect the 1:6th stuff. Does that make him less of a collector than you? Because you collect statues and PF only? Please. I collect both and care for both in my collection equally. The head feature is a cool one on this one. I don't see why it's an issue with anyone other than they can't stand the thought of their precious PF having anything related to a 1:6th figure. OMG they might not be "superior". :lol

Re: MY BOBA FETT JUST SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!

 "Aristocratic," Josh? Nope. Wrong choice of words. I think the word you're looking for is "snobbish." It's more the tone that I was going for. ;)

Here's another word: "Ironic." You could apply that to my previous post as well.

EDIT:

I actually do have a bit of fear that Sideshow may have been making a move toward more poseability with the PF line, starting with this figure, and I'd rather not see it. Again: The PF lines aren't broke. They don't need the kind of tweakin' that comes with such a radical departure from what they are. Their static nature is admirable, and I trust their artists to select poses for head and limbs and body that will be perfectly acceptable, if not downright stellar. I know that you, Josh, share that trust, as you've defended Sideshows poses on all of the previous PFs. By that observation, it would seem that you, especially, wouldn't see the need for movable heads. It's just extraneous.

P.S. Thanks for the compliments on the pics. :D Whats-his-nuts up there might have at least made some mention of them in his otherwise scathing reply to my review. :lol

I don't think they will. Are there any others where they are doing this? You're right I trust SS to pick the right pose and don't think they need to do moveable parts on the PF line. It was a neat idea but it's not a well they need to go to over and over again by anymeans at least IMO.

And I don't think I'm alone in noticing the very naked double standard oozing from your rebuttal. (To wit: Demanding that I stop stating my opinion on the matter, in this open and very public forum, whilst it's apparently fine and dandy for you to assert your own very opposite opinion. Yours, by implication, being the only opinion that matters. Hypocrite.)

Get a clue, man. I haven't done anything differently than you. I just do it better. :chew

You really pulled that doll comment out of your ass didn't you. How does wanting a poseable head on a PF that has a full helmet mean I play with dolls. Let me say what I really wanted to say after reading your lame review....you are a whiny *****!!!

Kodiak...with all due respect...you have complained on a daily basis about Boba Fett to the point of nausea!!!

If Boba Fett has truly ruined your life as it appears it has maybe you and Monk should seek counciling together...

No, they actually replaced it with the same number. I couldn't remember which one I had at first but I went back and checked and they took a blank one and wrote in the same number again.

But who knows? Maybe one day in my old age I will get an e-mail from somebody who turned up #42 and wants to work out a trade.

I think Sideshow goes back and forth with the poseabliltiy options. The 1st PFs had poseable arms. My Hellboy PF has poseable arms as well. As for Boba....this is a character whose most notible movements in personallity (on film) were his head turns and glances. I for one was pleased when they had 1st announced that the head would be posable. I'm totally o.k. with the fact that you or others don't like that feature.
As for the future PFs....I don't think Sideshow is moving towards or away from a certain format. I think each PF starts from scratch as far as design, features, etc. and developes into the final result based upon the characters personallity, the artists and design teams imaginations and limitations.

Re: MY BOBA FETT JUST SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I still love mine.

If I walked up to this piece without having seen it before and if you didn't allow me to touch it and if you held a gun to my head and to the heads of my little children and asked me upon penalty of death to tell you what the body underneath the clothes was made of, I would be in big trouble. And if you asked me by looks alone whether the base was polystone or not, I wouldn't be able to tell you. All I would see is a statue that is up there with the best in the line, with more detail than Han, Luke, Leia, Vader, or Obi-Wan. Once it's on my shelf, all that matters is how it looks. Nobody who comes in to see it is going to touch it, pick it up, smell it or lick it. After I unpack it and put it on the shelf for others to see, his success as a collectible depends 100% upon his appearance, and nobody who has seen mine feels that he is anything but the best of the eight Star Wars PFs that I own. I will admit that picking up the figure and the base, you don't get the heft of polystone--and that made it feel "cheaper" even to me in comparison to the others--and I understand those who feel that cheaper materials should have led to a cheaper product, regardless of the associated production costs. But I still feel that putting aside the weight and price and judging it on looks alone, Fett is awesome. And his looking awesome is absolutely the most important thing to me, because I will look at him almost every day, yet I will only pick him up or weigh him once a year or so.

Gentle Giant charged $185 for their Fett statue, and the PF is about a hundred times better in my opinion, and for less than twice the cost. You can get the GG Fett for about $115 or so because it was overproduced, and you can expect the same drop of about 1/3 of the retail price with the Fett PF on eBay because there are just so many out there. When you can get the regular for between $200 and $225 then I say go for it. To me, this rivals Grievous in terms of detail and visual impact (and with plastic materials on both), yet Fett didn't cost $450 like Grievous did. I only paid $50 more for Fett than I did for Leia, and I personally think that the difference in price is more than made up for by the drastic jump in detailed costuming. You had better believe that Fett's complete armored costume is more complex and detailed than Leia's white dress, and I have no problem paying $50 more for Fett than Leia--and I'm very happy to have paid $125 less than Grievous.

Re: MY BOBA FETT JUST SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!

Very well said Tom. I can't wait to get voice my true opinion in two days. I hope like you, I find this as visually stunning as I think I will.

Re: MY BOBA FETT JUST SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!

Got mine yesterday (#266) and absolutely love it! :monkey5 Set it right next to my monitor where I can bask in all its mixed media goodness notwithstanding all the critiques that has been going on ad nauseum from noobs to supposed PF conossieurs.

No limp rangefinder and the kinked hoses were quickly unkinked with some small gauge wire. No biggy since I build scale models and welcome any challenge to mod upgrades.

:lol Easy there, Kookie! Don't get all "freaked out..."

I'm sure it's easier and safer for you to call me as a whiny (ahem). But, sadly, you're too readily dismissive of the points I've brought up. Your angst-ridden replies have led me to believe that that is all you are capable of contributing to this discussion. ("Oh, yeah, Monk? Well ... shut up!" just doesn't cut it.) If you disagree with me, no problem. But you should take your cues from Tom. That boy can argue with style. :rock

Tom does bring up all the right points about Fett. He really is (from 2-3 feet away and further) quite stunning to look at. I really can't tell from a distance that he is any different from any of my other PFs. And I hadn't even considered the whole "Well, Grievous is plastic" argument. Too true, too true...but I didn't pay much more for Grievous than I did for Fett, which, for me, took the sting out of it a little bit.

(By the way, the "doll" remark actually was an intentional cheap shot. Again, it was meant to be ironic. I'm pretty fond of my Obi-wan and Anakin, duking it out near my studio window. And I can't wait to get that Jango and the Sandtrooper. :chew So, if I caused any collateral offense with my calculated remark at Kookie, I apologize...)

Re: MY BOBA FETT JUST SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!

I remember when Kenner (yes....Kenner) released their very 1st Star Wars figures. After the Early Bird set I think they where $1.98 each. We were all calling them "Star Wars Dolls" and saying to our friends "Hey. You want to play with our star wars dolls?" I would run over to the nieghbor's house and we would get out our fig...uh...dolls out and have a great time. They would get dirty and the paint would get scraped off...and we didn't care. Fun times. It took me the longest time to get out of the habit of calling any of these things "dolls." It's funny how the meaning of a word can change over time.
