Mixed media is The Force. It is everything around us and within us. Everything we use, all that we are made of...the entire planet is mixed media. Now if we are describing the SS PF statue, mixed media IMHO is a little more than just cloth and ABS.

Man, now you're just being a smart ass. A SS PF is MM be it Polystone (plastic) or ABS mixed with other materials.

I didn't ask what its not, I asked what it is.

Now you are trying to convince people 12" figures made of ABS are considered mixed media because they may have a belt made of leather or an accessory made of metal? Sorry Kit, we're not buying your line of crap.

So what does that make me if I "buy his line of crap"??

Seriously, Dave, Kit, and others make a good point: My 1/6 Jedi Luke Skywalker uses plastic, various cloths, and metal (for the clasps, D-rings, and wire). Anakin has plastic, various cloths, pleather, and metal ("sculpted" hood).

I think that sufficiently counts as Mixed Media.

But I find it amusing that you STILL haven't given us an answer on what you think constitutes "mixed media." Instead you gave a smart-a** answer, so how 'bout it already? What is your definition of "mixed media"?

In fact, I'll give you MY personal definition of "mixed media" as it relates to collectibles, and if anyone wants to agree or disagree, then I'll be more than happy to hear them out.

Mixed media = a sculpted piece that utilizes a substantial amount of two or more unique materials in creating a final product.

Examples of Mixed Media:
Sideshow 1/6 scale figures - typically plastic and cloth
Certain Hasbro SW figures - Vader with cloth cape, VTSC Han with cloth trenchcoat

Examples of Non-Mixed Media:
Gentle Giant mini-busts
Hasbro SW vehicles such as Jedi Interceptors, Hailfire Droid, X-Wing

That's S-Mart Ash to you Josh Bobble.

The context of mixed media is and has been, since I started getting into HIGH END collectibles three years ago, materials used in a Premium Format statue including LEATHER, METAL, POLYSTONE and others (Not ABS). This context DID NOT include ABS until Boba Plastic.

You are so obviously hooked on Sideshow, that they could sell you a PF statue made of paper mache and you would believe it's the perfect addition to the PF mixed media family.

What's next.....cardboard?

People like you accepting a lesser material as PREMIUM FORMAT are setting up future, less desireable media produced statues at PREMIUM prices. Understand teach?

Will you guys give it a rest already? Go find something better to do.

PF Mixed Media=Premium materials (Polystone, Metal, Leather, Fiberglass, Suede, Fine Cloth such as Satin or Silk)

Examples of NON-premium materials...Paper mache, cardboard, burlap, ABS plastic (If you see the seem, it sucks)

If you took the time to read the entire thread, you'd feel embarrassed about your post. The debate is what is and is not considered mixed media for SS Collectibles.

Polystone was a collectibles standard set by Sideshow for their PF statues. Their description of mixed media included leather, metal and other premium materials to create their 'finest' collectibles.

I'm debating the semantics involved in the classification of artistic items. I could care less whether you think rock, paper or scissors is of a higher quality substance.

Your definition of "Mixed Media" is more precisely a definition of "Fixed Media".

Mixed media is a term that pre-dates your birth, and definately pre-dates the Premium Format line. Polystone use is not an industry standard set by Sideshow by thier PF line. Polystone was used prior in plenty of other statue and other applications before Sideshow came around. Prior to the PF line, polystone was the most common, but not only material used in thier non-mixed media statues. For what it's worth polystone is mearly polyethylene which is exactly the same polymer as the plastic bags you get at the grocery store.

You've stated that your arguement is about what is and what is not considerred mixed media specifically for Sideshow. Fair enough - when you are president of Sideshow Collectibles, you can make the company definitions. Until then you cannot determine what Sideshow themselves define as mixed media.

You're making a complete ass of yourself at this point ( I am not calling you an ass in general, just over this subject to be clear ). This is my last post in this thread directed to you.

AGAIN - Your PERSONAL explination of "PF" is not acceptable because you're not the CEO of SS. You have placed your OWN value on what "PF" stands for and that's fine. However, don't expect others to accept your "line of crap" and your PERSONAL explination.

Poing blank and period - Mixed media means different materials used to create a whole figure. In this case it IS if you want to accept it or not. YOU may choose not to like ABS and that's fine, BUT you can't say it's not mixed media when it is. SS has NEVER come out and said that mixed media OR "PF" stand for polystone....PERIOD!!!!!

Re: MY BOBA FETT JUST SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!

C'mon guys, don't be so harsh on him for that one. It was my fault, I was asking his clarification so I could see his line of thinking. It's the socratic philosopher in me. Naturally he can't say what sideshow means by mixed media, but he can say what his perception of what sideshow means by mixed media. And its not right for us to judge his perception.

So just to be sure I am following, if it has plastic it is not mixed media? Because Grievous uses plastic. The Dejarik Holochess table is polystone and metal and is mixed media. Am I following correctly?

Then I'll say it. You're an ********. Plain and simple. You are arguing in a circle and it's tired. You've gone to the lenghts of comparing ABS to paper mache, just validating the fact that you're an ********.

I honestly think he is just going back and copying his previous posts and recycling them. He's obviously very stubborn and is not going to back down from his opinion, but if so many other people feel different who cares what he thinks? I don't.

Just got my Boba PF today, I am too lazy to open it right now, but from all the pics I've seem he looks great. I'll open mine tomorrow. :)
