I am not aware if you have read the thread over at statue forum about the regular Hulk being turned into a Faux Bronze piece. Basically it was a custom job that turned out well. People really liked it and wanted to commission the painter for more work. Bowen got wind of this and asked to steal the idea and do a Hulk run for themselves.

I think the whole Faux bronze thing is played out and tacky. It does seem like a gimmick to me, especially at those prices. They know they can cash in on it and use the same exact sculpts. Where is the innovation here? I know this is probably sounding offensive to the people that really love Bowen but this is just my opinion.

I sort of like Bowen pieces. Some are really nice but others are just not that great to me. This whole FB re-hashing of the sculpts thing really just rubs me the wrong way though. Like I said, it just seems lazy and uninspired to me. (I don't like it when Sideshow does it either.) I really wouldn't have minded if Bowen's Marvel License had expired. Seems they have done enough of the same already.

No i didnt read that thread at all. But it seems silly to me that Bowen would need to get permission from someone who customized HIS product...

I wouldnt call it lazy, but I do agree that it is uninspired. But looking at the circumstances that Bowen had to meet a certain statue quota for phase3, of course it is an uninspired move. he had to meet the quota and the licensing problems is what ate up the time for him to do new work. Or atleast this is the info that ive gathered from reading through some threads.

Im not a FB fanatic, but selective products do catch my eye, not just for the gimmick factor, but I do think that some look really good in FB form. I see no difference in tackiness and gimmick factor in FBs and Chrome editions. to each his own.

Unless it is a character or robot that merits chrome or metal-like finish!

Yeah, I believe I understand the reason behind Bowen's move to FB out old statues. It was due to time constraints I suppose. I do not mean to slag his name or products down. I like these but like I said I have two problems: the price and the re-done sculpts. If these had been new sculpts, which I know could not have happened due to the circumstances, I would probably be giving Bowen a lot more credit. How it is though, I just feel like he is taking advantage of collectors a little bit.

Maybe because "most" don't collect for the "future" or the dollars, but collect what they like. These are ok, but I've just never been too keen on "colored" bronze; if it is bronze, make it look like bronze, otherwise, what's the point?

That's why I don't care for them that much, the colored bronze seems weird to me. But I will say that the look is growing on me a little. These will look very cool all together.

I have always loved the color bronze ever since the original Bowen Spidey and Fett bronze pieces. It adds to it IMO....the normal bronze is a bit boring for me.

I wanted those original pieces REALLY bad but they were just WAYYY too much money (Fett sells for over 10k now)

These FB pieces are now affordable and have the same look.

Very excited they used the original sculpts too, as I was always a fan of them and am glad to finally be able to own them.

but the context my statement was commenting on was about those that want their collectibles to hold or go up in value. the bowen bronze statues went quickly so someone must like them.
