It certainly can and often does impair brain function and it is very commonly associated with learning disabilities. It is a broad spectrum disorder with varying degrees of paralysis and brain impairment. Individuals affected with CP can range from the extremely intelligent to severe intellectual disability. It depends on many factors, such as what parts of the brain are affected and when the damage occurred during the child's development. I treat patients with CP everyday and you have to realize that you have to treat these patients differently based on the severity of their condition.
You are right. In about one third cases, cognition is affected but to say Jr is mentally challenged just because he has CP is ridiculous. He is spoiled and naive but I do not see him as impaired. I just do not like CelticPredator.
