Yeah, for me AOTC is by far the worst of the PT. I really enjoyed TPM and overall thought JL did a pretty good job.

I got my SW Insider today in the mail.Maul looks a lot better in the magazine but preview pics and product pics will tell for sure just how good this one is.

Oh my god, I can't believe anyone likes TPM over AotC! Between Jar-Jar, the kid, the pod race, the kid, Midichlorians, and, I don't know -- THAT HORRIBLE KID!

OT Rules! Always did, alway will..

Imagine if the OT never existed and only the PT was made. I wonder how many of us would be here right now?

I kind of hold them in the same light; I was 15 when TPM came out, and I thought is was pretty cool. I also liked AOTC when it came out, it's my favorite of the two (meaning TPM and AOTC) only because of the arena battle--JEDI JEDI JEDI you gotta love it. The whole pull for me in Star Wars prequals are the Jedi. Other than that the prequals are still cool, at least to me. Still, if only Maul had lived at least for one more movie...

Mwhahaha...feel like you Dave...TPM was for fans of Walt Disney and Pixar. The Duel of the fates was the only thing that saves it.IMO.

You would have a film series that could be compared with the rest of the sci-fi "stuff" of this era. Just a lot of CG and gags.

I have several little relatives that get a huge enjoyment out of the PT when I show them, TPM especially.

They are the same as the OT when it was new to us. People grew up and expected the PT to be grown up with them, but sorry, it didn't.

The only difference (and it is a big one) is that the OT wasn't marketed to kids. I do however agree with the comment made earlier about the wise business move of "breeding" a new generation this way.

Oh and :maul :maul :maul

Shai, I hated and still hate with white hot hate of a thousand suns the Phantom Menace, and I love Pixar films. Pixar films have always been sheer genius, and don't belong in the same sentence as the dreck that is the first prequel. Things do get better in the other films, but so much is bad about TPM, just let me have the Maul/Qui-Gon/OB1 Duel and be done with it.

Changing a fan-boy's opinion about much of anything seems about as productive as herding cats, but my 2 cents... debating the best prequal is like asking do you enjoy your vomit smooth or chunky style. The PT are a fine example of shoddy film making all around - acting, dialogue, plot, pacing, editing. There are only brief shining moments (like the Duel of the Fates scene) that hint at what might have been. :monkey2

And the ROTS Emerpor line "Power, Ultimate Power!" is as cringe worthy as anything Jake Lloyd says in TPM.

Your right Seaward...I shouldnt have taken pixar as an example cause their movies are actually quite good... But anyway ,you still get the idea..TPM sux...

I am sure that this has been posted here before, but if you need a reason to hate the Phantom Menace, why not have 78 of them? https://www.chefelf.com/starwars/ep1_1-10.php

I still get angry when I watch some of the making of material on the bonus disc, and you get to see the natural and gifted unknown young actor who should have played Anakin...Arrgh.

I'll try spinning that's a good trick:emperor

I posted that link a while ago, and while I think that there are a number of areas where the reviewer is just way too critical; on the whole I agree. The most significant issue I have is the lack of uniformity, some of which really bothers me.

Thought the Pixars are just ok.

The Incredibles is there best by far IMHO. I really can't remember much about the others, besides one orange and white fish and a lesbian fish looking for some other fish.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. I think this is a major issue with a lot of just strictly OT fans. They had adult expectations on films that are marketed to kids half their age.

Yup

I enjoy the prequels. Oddly, it's AOTC that bothers me the most. I think it's the general lack of urgency about anything. Everyone is stoned.

I tend to agree. At first, I loved AOTC because I felt it was so much better than TPM. Now, years later, TPM is the film that looks and feels more like SW to me. Odd.
