Hmm what is it like 1 Canadian to like 30,000 Americans or something like that?

Is that you Eli? :lol

Does it really matter? Canadian kids grow up on hockey. American kids don't. I love hockey, but am in the minority in the US.

It's changing though. There are as many kids playing hockey in the US as Canada now. Soon it will be more. That will translate to the ice eventually and the US will DOMINATE!

Canada must have ALOT more passion for hockey than the US for them to win like that. ;)

Fixed post, women love hockey more here and are more passionate for this sport then any other country.

It's not 100% about the number of people from the country, its about the interest in this sport..its greater here then in the US.

I know way more women here, that play competitive ice Hockey then say, skiing, bobsleding, figure skating, baseball, basketball etc.

They were just talking in the bronze game about the Swedes ramping UP their womens hockey. I don't see them eliminating womens hockey. It's more popular than it's ever been.
"May look at taking it out" doesn't mean anything.

That Canuck goaltender was the difference.

I worded that incorrectly, they will be looking at the competive aspect and may take it out, if they dont think there will be an improvement.

Im going to see if I can find something online

And ya US team wayyyyyyyy hotter :)

I really, really hope they don't. I think it would be a mistake. That Hockey played out there today was top notch.

That might be, but there must be more women in Canada than the US because that's why they won!

I'm using Eli's logic. :lol

And using Eli's logic....Canadian women should have more bulk due to the cold winters up there and stronger legs trudging thru all that snow....:lol You know he really is "SPECIAL".

This is what I could find quickly

The biggest conversation that I've seen during this first week of the Olympics hasn't been about the men though, it's been about our women's team and the future or women's Olympic hockey. There are some that are arguing that women's Olympic hockey is a two team tournament. The Canadians and Americans are just more advanced, the rest of the field is far below them. Why have it in the Olympics when the games are so one-sided? It did not help that the Canadian women trounced Slovakia 18-0, setting a new Olympic scoring record. (Don't feel too bad for Slovakia - they annihilated Bulgario 82-0 in a 2008 match).

Its a combination of population, interest, funding, research and development for the athletes and getting them proper training equipment, acquiring the best trainers etc.

One thing thats for sure...t's not the Americans or Canadians arguing....Big mistake if they ever eliminate it.

True, for both sides, though I've never heard this discussion until the US has done well in the winter Olympics.

Its been discussed for years in sport. If you think about it, Great Britain(Scotland where curling originates) should be better in curling then Canada but, they are not..its close though. Its like basketball, we invented it but, there is not a huge interest in it here and for good reason IMO, so we don't churn out many superstars.I can only name two Canadians in the NBA.
