That's nice, but total medal count: U.S.A. = 28 Canaduh =15.

So if Korea has a total medal count of 40 with 1 gold and 39 Bronze and the US has 39 medals with 38 gold and 1 bronze, Korea is the champ right?

Its gold medals or GTFU, I dont care many first, second, third or fourth place losers any country has.

I think Canada is poised to rack up at least 4 more golds, and the bet of mine is slipping away quickly

I wonder why more people don't live there .....

:dunno

One, we're a much newer country. Two, we're a cold country, and Three, I don't care because I am fond of not living in an overly crowded and populated country. We have more land than any country, save Russia (btw is the former USSR smaller in land mass since it has been devided up?), and with our little population I love the open area. :)

Also, look at the geographic level. 90 percent of Canada's population is near the American border, where as the further up north you go, the more dense with bush and forest you get, and the colder the climates reach. The reason the US has a high population is because of the aforementioned reasons and the fact you guys are in a better geographic setting for a choice living environment.

Even simple logic like that will go over their heads. So don't bother bud. You can try, but you can't teach the unteachable. :chew

I just love the way deeznutz and Eli love to skew numbers to support their outlook. We went through this with the Pens and Habs. Countries are list by TOTAL MEDAL COUNT and that's how everyone who's sane has them listed. Not by "my countries doing well with Gold...so lets go with that arguement". :rotfl

The US is spankin' Canada in the medal count...just deal with it. I like you guys but, the red and white 3D glasses have to come off.

Dude, I am far from being a Canada cheerleader, I actually could careless about anythign but hockey. I was merely proving a point, one that I agree with regardless of how many gold Canada wins, I didnt think they would win more then 5. If your ok with total medals, then youll agree with my original post right? I think the winning country should be determined by total golds, regardless of who it is, KOREA/GERMANY/CANADA/NORWAY/USA/CAMBODIA etc. That country has the most top athletes at that event period, you are the winner.

And the population totals is crap, where is India and China in these games???

Also, I so won that Pens vs Habs debate :lol

Since expansion to 21 teams, the pens have more cups :) and finals appearances

Honestly though, Canada should be proud for winning even one gold; first time on their own soil. :clap

Actually yeah total medal count is important to me because I don't see the point in bragging about 7 golds when your country only rakes in 15 total in all the events so far.

And I find this funny:

There's that unique way you have of seeing things....again. :lol It's history...not starting when it works for you.

Yes, I agree with your first post. Total medals wins. Every Olympic website and publication lists them in order of total medals not gold.

Great line here.....

"We'd be living in a fool's paradise if we said we were going to catch the Americans and win," Rudge said. "They are way out ahead at this point."

There's NO statement saying "Well we're close in Golds"

nuff said.....

Yeah, I have been losing interest lately...first week was awesome though.

Boring day in the Olympics, huh? Anyone going to watch curling?:dunno

Yeah, pretty boring... Just the finals in women's hockey-- Canada versus some team from the United States of somewhere... Pretty boring.

Sadly, I actually watched some of that the other night while I was at the gym. It was the only thing I could find while trying to ride the elliptical. Pretty boring stuff....like bowling, tennis, golf, or watching grass grow.

I have no problem with people seeing them as total medal wins, as long as if the shoe was on the other foot you accept it that way also. If another country passes the USA in total medals but you have more golds, would you still see it that way?? For most people I doubt it, they would be arguing USA most golds, its a two way street. USA just has the luxury of being first in most medals, and possibly most golds.

Are you a Habs fan?

YES! Most definitely, no question. I think most people see it this way.
