Re: Brother Production - "EXCEPTION" Dream Extractor (lol)

Mags, what is the suit like in hand mate?

Very nice! Easy to futz and well tailored. :)

I also really liked the way they did the buttons. The snap is behind the top button which is actually sewed to the front of the left side. And the lower button is sewed to the right button. This wouldn't work for an open jacket look, but closed it's perfect.

Here he is on a Narrow Shouldered TT:

It makes it look like it's a working button, but it's actually a snap (which is much easier to work with)!

Can you get these anywhere online in the U.S or Canada?
Or is ebay ($150 free shipping) about the best deal?

Thanks for the Cotswald tip. I order from them from time to time and didnt know that they did Brother Productions.

I've seen it mentioned pretty much everywhere including here so I guess this would be as good a place to ask as anywhere else: what the hell is futzing and how do you do it? From what I hear and see it seems to have good benefits on 1/6 figures. How do I know I should do it and how do I do it?

"Futzing" just refers to adjusting the clothes on the figure. Most of the time when you get a figure, the clothes are put on pretty carelessly, so straightening them out (just like you would if you were dressing yourself) makes a huge difference in making a figure look realistic and in scale.

Here are a few tricks for futzing:

1) Use a tweezers!!!

2) If something is wrinkled, give it the "water treatment". That means use clean water (distilled if you're really picky) to wet down the fabric, then get it to lay the way you want it, then use a hair dryer to get it dry in the new position. This is particularly helpful when collars are folded too high.

3) Use a tweezers!!!

4) Re-dress the figure. Sometimes the clothes are so jacked up that you have to get serious and just start from scratch. Strip them down and get the clothes on right. I actually end up doing this with most of my figures.

5) Use a tweezers!!!

Seriously. Buy a tweezers. I prolly have 4 different ones in my drawer just for futzing. The pointy kind can be a godsend when trying to feed 1/6 scale button through a tiny 1/6 scale button hole. But just a regular tweezers makes futzing so much easier and more effective. Trying to futz things like belts, sleeves, collars, and ties would be a nightmare without tweezers.

"Futzing" also applies to non-removable parts of a figure's outfit. For example, it's nearly imposible to undress a Hot Toys Batman figure, but you can still futz with the rubber to get thigs centered or where you want them. The outfit on my Hot Toys Siderman figure was sewn a bit funny so that the pattern and spider on the chest is a little too far to one side in it's normal state. But with a bit of futzing (in this case twisting the fabric around the torso) it looks perfect.

I spend a lot more time futzing figures than actual posing. It's part of the fun. :)

"futzing" is a term for sexually touching your figures. (See the video below.)

Or just ask Maglor. He'll tell you, he's a master futzer.

Really though, it's just messing with the clothes and pose to make it look more natural.

:)

^^^ Classic Vid. :lol

Also "posing" refers to what you do to the True Type. "Futzing" is what you do with what's on the True Type. :pfft: :lol

Ah thank you very much for that information. I have the Hot Toys Tomodachi and I think he could greatly use these futzing techniques, especially with his tie that unnaturally kind of shoots out of his shirt. I'll give it a try.
