Wow... That's quite the reaction to a simple statement...very classy ;) You obviously didn't read my statement that he was responding to.

Yeah I was a bit shocked ;p Though I am surprised that you're getting it if you already have an MR falcon. With some nice paints this a head above the MR falcon which is already pretty damn great, but the MR falcon is pretty damn huge and this is gonna be the same size! Even if I had the space for it, it just seems weird to have two of the same falcon in my collection :( Though you could sell your MR and make a healthy profit probably ^^

I care that I have one and that he has one, unless you don't know what you were asking about originally? I'm going to a site about statues, that happens to have a thread about a kit of a prop model and responding to someone who plans to get one and already has a MR falcon asking why would you would not get it. Thereby explaining to someone who is in a similar circumstance why I would not get one. I am also reading it because even if I don't plan on getting it (due to my aforementioned already having an existing comparable falcon) I am interested in it, and especially their future plans where they expressed they may do an X-Wing which gives me a vested interest in how this pans out.

Your post is actually the most irrelevant one in this thread, though going by your last post in this thread about the screws I could already tell your plan in life is to be a ****. Also your analogy is stupid, because if this was like a beef recipe sharing site it would be like me going to that site saying that I not only eat beef, but I have a beef recipe almost exactly like this.

Although you have my plan in life all figured out, please allow me to go out of character - I did misunderstand your post, so with that in mind, I do apologize for commenting out of context.

Yep... That thought has crossed my mind. It's all about which one I like better. :)

Yeah same, I've wrestled with going for this or not but so far it has been a no. I think with some paint it will absolutely look better, but I don't plan on painting mine so it'll be left with that sort of ink-wash weathering that it looks like it comes with. Also I like the tilt on the base of the MR and I have a death star base for it. The interior is cool too, but I wouldn't display the interior probably so that wasn't much of a positive in the category for me. Also I'm afraid of this not panning out and being left with $1000 worth of parts.

If I didn't have an MR I would definitely go for it, but it's tough for me to throw down the cash for it when I can use it on other things. Also I'm not sure if the MR falcon will have the crazy price it does now when this is all done and I wouldn't want to sell it till I have the other falcon completed >< Been a tough a decision for me :/

A couple of thoughts, if I might?

First, as an old-school modeller, I'm definitely in. The biggest commitment here is nothing more than time. Financially, it's a no-brainer. Making sure I have enough on a credit card is nothing more than sacrificing a burrito combo a week. Additionally, that two-year window gives me all the time in the world to decide on if and how much I'd like to 'accurize' it with some Shapeways parts.
This is like a 'grail' opportunity to me. (And I'm not worried about sudden cancellation. DeAgo has a loooong history for this type of thing and this is easily the most 'pop culture' item they've ever offered.)

AND I'd still be in even if I had an MR Falcon, too. Between the bajillion customization options and the wall mount, I've already got a ton of potential display options going through my head.
I also don't expect the MR to depreciate in value in any way on the secondary market because of this. The MR is what it is and it's a case of apples and oranges to me. If Porsche suddenly started manufacturing trucks that looked exactly like a Ford F-150, I wouldn't expect Ford to drop the prices on theirs. :wink1:

I agree... The idea of having a falcon fully lit sitting on landing gear with the boarding ramp down is an amazing thought, and since the MR is is flight mode, I could have both. It was a no brainer for me too. Not much risk involved in subscribing since it is month to month with no long term commitment.

Stop making good arguments goddamit :p

It definitely is a long term commitment for me though, I wouldn't just buy a few I'd go for all of them. I hate selling stuff too so ><

I told my friend if I die, he has to take over my payments and finish the damn thing for me. Then put my ashes in the cargo hold!

Just came in the post. Very nice. Hull does just have a simple black wash to most parts, but very good detail on the pieces. Definitely will shop shapeways for certain add-ons but man this is going to be so fun to build! The mags are of nice quality and good info as well. Really makes you appreciate the experience more with the history of the areas you are building in the kit like the cockpit and turrets as each new section box arrives. If you are on the fence get this. Too cool!

I would love to own a falcon like this since god knows I can't afford the MR version. But I would NEVER trust my own hands to put together a $1500+ item.

Dude...it is made for the average person. That is why it is so much fun. Just do it! It's all screws and following very simple picture instructions. I am a skilled modeler. But anyone can do this!

I would echo this, I haven't started putting mine together yet (I am waiting until issues 10 to 13 arrive next month), but the beauty of this build is that it needn't be overwhelming for anyone.

If you build it week by week or month by month it will be lots of very small steps to put it together, rather than being faced with a mountain of plastic and metal.

All of the instructions within each magazine are extremely clear, and it can be done without the optional modifying or painting and I'm positive you would still end up with one of the best looking "out of the box" Millennium Falcons available.

Been distracted with a Pepakura project of a Predator 2 Boar Bio Mask but caught up on this thread now. I would like to get a BP that has not been folded, crease free. I wonder if DeAg would sell and ship them in a poster tube?
