I do like the idea of seeing inside the falcon, and all the tools/barrels etc just adds to it. I think that's the way I will display mine, also with the ramp down with a stormtrooper either side. I was literally about to pull the trigger on a MR at Xmas, it's an amazing piece and I would still love it, but building this has got me and my 6 year old son hooked. :) I don't think I would let him play with it though went it's finished.
LOL! Hells no on the playing. :lol

I will be subscribing when it hits our shores as it's probably the closest I'll come to owning an MR Falcon.
That being said I've spent the last couple of nights watching video and looking at pics of this and if this ends up looking better than an MR I'll eat my hat. It comes in parts in a blister pack on a magazine lol, the quality isn't there in my eye.
Great for guys like me who want a Falcon but let's not get carried away :lol.

Can anyone confirm... Is this the finished product, straight from Deagostini without custom painting, or is this the MR Falcon?

Alright then. Looking forward to the model on display at Celebration. I'll bet it will be this very same one although I would like to see one that is without any customization.

Exactly. Like I said I'm in because I want a SS Falcon but I would like to see a real representation of what we are going to end up with. That Falcon has probably been worked on by Steve himself, made with all the best materials and hundreds of hours of paint application. If that is in fact the DeAg Falcon.

Some other cool pics of the finished product...

Looks great, I would assume you will see something like this at SW celebration.
That helps a lot. Thank you!

It looks good. However, compared to the pic I posted of the custom painted version, it looks very dull. :lol
I expected this much though. I just wanted some confirmation of the uncustomized end-product.

I guess I'm going to have to learn how to paint. :rotfl

Well the Falcon does have a flat paint job, the MR is not shiny at all. Start researching now there are some great tutorials online, check out this one:

He gives great advice on weathering, also search for Deagostini Falcon build logs and you will learn a ton. Then, buy the cheap $40 new Hasbro Falcon to test your skill on... you have 2 years to get it right. :)

I'll definitely take a look at those. I've seen a couple of vids by Modelmaking Guru.

That MF still looks like it had some additional paintwork. You can barely see the red and yellow areas on the top.

Does anyone know if there is going to be a limited amount of these produced? I almost pulled the trigger but I can't justify another piece to my collection at this price if it has no resale value. Don't get me wrong, that's not the only reason I buy collectibles but when I start breaking the bank it becomes more about 'is this practical' or 'is the experience of putting this thing together worth that kind of money?' I feel like after 2 years of waiting the thrill of building this will fizzle out. That or perhaps another release similar to that of the MR falcon comes out near the same price of this kit except already painted and built out of higher quality material. I can just see myself sitting in front of all my pieces thinking, "What a piece of junk!"

It's difficult to say, really. eFX is making a Falcon, but it's tiny in comparison. You know the price of the MR and this one. I doubt a new one will be released in the same scale. Resale value? That's going to be really difficult to pinpoint on this due to the additional work individuals will factor in, and the quality of it. Also, it's probably going to be a difficult piece to re-sell since this won't come in a box and with styrofoam protection. You get it in bits, and build it.

This piece is very unique, and challenges collectors in many unique ways on many fronts.
