Been distracted with a Pepakura project of a Predator 2 Boar Bio Mask but caught up on this thread now. I would like to get a BP that has not been folded, crease free. I wonder if DeAg would sell and ship them in a poster tube?

Yes apparently they sell them rolled up in a tube on the website now.

JUST pulled the trigger on this. Was on the fence, but just caved. What's another $65 a month when you have several other flex pays for other figures coming in around that much :thud:

Yay! Just got my first shipment!
Frankly, I'm stunned that UPS didn't try to hit me with their now-infamous BS "brokerage fees".
Dude just dropped it off and left.
Now it begins....

I'm very interested in this when it eventually hits Australian shores. Only thing I'm concerned about is that there seems to be a fair bit of hyperbole about this being better than the MR Falcon. I know it has a few missing greeblies that were only recently discovered but every video I've seen makes the parts look and sound very plastic like and lower quality. Is this the case?

I'm only interested in how it displays, I'll never use lights or the boarding ramp. IMO the more electronics they put in it just more things to go wrong down the track.

I'm going to start this by saying that I am an MR Falcon owner, but I'm not gonna respond with bias (at least consciously). I don't think the parts material is of any lower quality. The paint job is definitely not quite as good out of the box, but this is basically made for you to add some finishing touches (it's almost like 1/4th the current MR price). I personally am not one for 100% studio accuracy, so those missing parts are not a big deal for me but for some people studio accurate is the way to go.

And yes the lights may fail, but considering this is something YOU put together you not only know where the lights are but how to get to them so if they did fail replacing them should be an option as opposed to the MR falcon which it is not. It also has the interior bits (which tbh I don't really care about) and posing options (the stand an landing gears which is cool imo). So basically straight out of the box it will look comparable but not quite as good, some parts might need to be painted though (quad blasters? not sure). However with a little bit of paintwork it could end up looking a fair bit better then the MR Falcon.

I will echo this statement for the most part. The material difference is plastic vs. resin and I think the resin on the MR has an edge. Comparing the two...MR and DeAg side by side you can see that the resin construction of the MR makes for sharper details. Again this is only something a really picky collector would notice. Doesn't detract fro the DeAg Falcon, but it is not MR reborn or upgraded, and it will still suffer from softer details in the end.

That being said...the DeAg falcon will be amazing in its own right and I would still recommend getting in on it while it is available. Its gonna be a stunner when it is done :)

From DeAgostini site:
"...With its unique molded metal and resin construction, this is the most detailed Millennium Falcon model ever. Your 1:1 scale movie prop replica is 31 inches long, 23 inches wide, just over 7 inches high and it weighs 24 pounds. It has pre-painted hull parts, with working electronics and removable panels to view the interior. It’s just like the prop from The Empire Strikes Back..."

Jack Bauer, you've got a few pieces already for this Deagostini model.

Are those pieces not made of resin? I'll admit, they do "appear" to have a plastic look to them, but some confirmation would be nice.

A couple of thoughts, if I might?

First, as an old-school modeller, I'm definitely in. The biggest commitment here is nothing more than time. Financially, it's a no-brainer. Making sure I have enough on a credit card is nothing more than sacrificing a burrito combo a week. Additionally, that two-year window gives me all the time in the world to decide on if and how much I'd like to 'accurize' it with some Shapeways parts.
This is like a 'grail' opportunity to me. (And I'm not worried about sudden cancellation. DeAgo has a loooong history for this type of thing and this is easily the most 'pop culture' item they've ever offered.)

AND I'd still be in even if I had an MR Falcon, too. Between the bajillion customization options and the wall mount, I've already got a ton of potential display options going through my head.
I also don't expect the MR to depreciate in value in any way on the secondary market because of this. The MR is what it is and it's a case of apples and oranges to me. If Porsche suddenly started manufacturing trucks that looked exactly like a Ford F-150, I wouldn't expect Ford to drop the prices on theirs. :wink1:

Very solid points all around... I'm sure I'll be getting this, but since it should be on display at CVII I'd like to see it in person first since I can :lol If it weren't for CVII I'd probably have ordered it day one :lol

Ok, I didn't see that in the description. It looks and feels like plastic. Either way the details are softer than the MR Falcon.

I will check again when I get home. They appear plastic to me.

Well if the pieces are in fact resin they fooled me. They feel just like plastic and look that way to. I just checked again.

Well, you could be right of course. I've just sent an email, requesting a clarification.
Also, if someone has time tomorrow, maybe they can call them:

I've seen all the upgrades what people are doing to the cockpit to make it screen accurate, the MR can't come even close to this level of detail imho.
With added fibre optic kits added to the controls and computers etc, this will look amazing completed.

The 3d printed upgrades to the cockpit is quite nice and impressive, but honestly I can't even see the inside of the cockpit of my falcon I think ultimately it'll go unnoticed :( But if I did do this falcon I would probably upgrade the cone and cockpit, but not with lights/fiber.

I do like the idea of seeing inside the falcon, and all the tools/barrels etc just adds to it. I think that's the way I will display mine, also with the ramp down with a stormtrooper either side. I was literally about to pull the trigger on a MR at Xmas, it's an amazing piece and I would still love it, but building this has got me and my 6 year old son hooked. :) I don't think I would let him play with it though went it's finished. 😱
