Hi Agonistes, can you give some tips on how to paint those sleeves? How great do they look as you did!

Thanks! And sure, I'll explain how I did it, but keep in mind that I'm in no ways an expert on painting, I just googled some info and used some techniques I used on earlier customs.
I used Games Workshop colors (they are water based acrylics I think). I mixed "Dwarf Flesh" and "Bleached Bone", then diluted it with water until I had a milk-like mixture. I put on a layer, which is very thin because of the watermixture, let it dry, put on another layer etc. I think in total I put on about 6 layers.
Before putting on the final layer I painted the inner arms with a lighter mix and the outer arms with a darker one, trying to mimic a real look (as the outer arms have more exposure to sun etc).
Afterwards I gave the areas like the inner elbow a darker wash (again the two colors mixed but with more parts of dwarf flesh, and with more water added).
Finally I mixed "Scorched Brown" with a bit of black and put on the armhair with a thin brush, basically like drybrushing, meaning I put color on the brush, wiped it a bit on a tissue so that the thick paint came off, then gently made seperate "hairs" on the arm. This took some time and I'm not completely satisfied with the look, put in fear of messing it up and having to paint the complete arm again I just left it like this.

Hope this is of any help to you. :)

Is there any reason to believe that Hot Toys may revisit the Colonial Marines with their new DX line of figures? I want to eventually add Hicks, Hudson, and Vasquez to my collection but I'd hate to spend $500+ on ebay to get Hicks and then have HT announce a better version for 1/3 the price.

Well hot toys couldn't originally get the likeness rights for the characters so unless they can now ( since they probably have more money and maybe connections to help them out ) I would think its unlikely.

I'd love them to remake them though personally , I've spent a small fortune buying and customizing the originals but I'd add a whole dx line to the collection again. :lol:rock

If we do see a DX line I doubt we will see the whole crew again though , maybe Hicks and Ripley , Hudson maybe.
:dunno

I personally want them to remake a hot toys aliens alien that doesn't fall apart !. :horror

new hot toys aliens alien is i good plan ,
but whats the meaning of LTD if they bring out the same ^^^^ again with a bit of change here and there.
would B super lame:sick i would freak out if they bring out those mariens again. that would not help hot toys to bring out a sold out LTD product they would just have to focus on the other figures like frost crowe Wierzbowski gorman maybe newt...

thats the way it is really man.
I know it can be annoying paying alot for something then have something even better come out for cheaper or around the same price but this is bound to happen with everything at some point.
I'm pretty certain theres not a chance we will see any other characters from aliens other than what we've already seen from hot toys.

I hope we see a DX Hicks and Ripley personally.

I am still saying a prayer every night for a queen alien, with an egg sac display!

With new movies coming out all the time and so many possible fan-favorite characters yet to be made (that list is nearly endless), I don't really see them going back and doing any more of the Aliens colonial marines again, as much as I wish they would. I'm still hoping they'll make the Queen from Aliens to go with the Power Loader they've already produced, but even that seems less likely as time goes by... but then with HT you never know.

Hot Toys has taken some fairly risky chances producing stuff like ED-209, the Power Loader, Batman's Tumbler & Pod Bike, and some of the more obscure Predator characters, all of which turned out to sell quite well apparently, so it's likely there are still some big surprises in store. The Queen would be at the top of my list above all else if they ever decide to do anything more from Aliens, tho.

I made a couple of mails to the hot toys staff every time with an 1/6 alien queen request ofcours the 1986 version. :banana

I still want to see some human aliens 3 characters too.
Thats never going to happen though. :lol

i think that that hase something to do do with the fact that they cary no guns in alien 3, only those weird white coated weyland ^^^^^#rs at the end. yeah except dillon, he could have a fire axe.
Ripley could cary a bit of bishop as a 1/6 figure, lol

I finished my Hudson custom a couple of days ago, I've had him for 2 years now but just recently decided to improve him.
I wasn't really going for accuracy, just changing stuff that bothered me, here's a list of changes I made:

-weathered the BDU
-weathered the armor with silver, although it's rather subtle and isn't really visible in the pics
-repainted his eyebrows, the bushy black ones seemed so toyish
-added some SovereignStudios muscular arm sleeves to hide the joints, and painted those (these were actually the reason why I decided to customize him in the first place)

I'd still like to get a better head sculpt, although I don't really like all the ones out right now, so I'll have to see about that. The bored and emotionless expression of the current one is what botheres me most atm, the likeness actually comes in second place, as the overall look of the marine is what interests me most in the fig, not the Paxton character.

Anway, here are the pics, hope you enjoy them:

BTW, I don't think I've ever posted in this thread yet, but I've been reading it almost since the start, it was one of the reasons why I got Hudson in the first place, who was also my first Hot Toys fig, so thanks for that. :)

Awesome agonistes86! Looks absolutely badass:clap

those arms turned out great man. :rock
I've picked some up for my Vasquez. Funnily enough I have custom sculpts made or in the works for all my marines other than Hudson too. I think I'll just end up using the one from Lonnie at H2creative.

Could i see a picture of your vasquez?

definitely use lonnies hudson sculpt I just bought one, even though I dont have a hudson yet, going to build my own.I wont pay antique prices that people want.
his hicks is a bit rough, just finished painting mine and he looks old compared to other head sculpts.lonnies is definitely better likeness than for hudson than fm les.
not to say his is bad to me it dont look as good.

I quite like Lonnie's Hudson headsculpt, I must admit.

I finished my Hicks last weekend. Amended the camoflauge like on the tutorial I posted, and added a lighter case and knife to the webbing. It's now up on ebay though, part of the Aliens sale I'm having.
