Hi Agonistes, can you give some tips on how to paint those sleeves? How great do they look as you did!
Thanks! And sure, I'll explain how I did it, but keep in mind that I'm in no ways an expert on painting, I just googled some info and used some techniques I used on earlier customs.
I used Games Workshop colors (they are water based acrylics I think). I mixed "Dwarf Flesh" and "Bleached Bone", then diluted it with water until I had a milk-like mixture. I put on a layer, which is very thin because of the watermixture, let it dry, put on another layer etc. I think in total I put on about 6 layers.
Before putting on the final layer I painted the inner arms with a lighter mix and the outer arms with a darker one, trying to mimic a real look (as the outer arms have more exposure to sun etc).
Afterwards I gave the areas like the inner elbow a darker wash (again the two colors mixed but with more parts of dwarf flesh, and with more water added).
Finally I mixed "Scorched Brown" with a bit of black and put on the armhair with a thin brush, basically like drybrushing, meaning I put color on the brush, wiped it a bit on a tissue so that the thick paint came off, then gently made seperate "hairs" on the arm. This took some time and I'm not completely satisfied with the look, put in fear of messing it up and having to paint the complete arm again I just left it like this.
Hope this is of any help to you.
