Building your MARINES - CORRECTLY

Hi D-Chaos, the correct colour for the rifle and shoulder lamp is Humbrol 170 Brown Bess, but they no longer make it. Tins of Humbrol 170 sometimes appear on e-bay, but other alternatives I have seen mentioned in Aliens forums are: Testors 34087 Olive Drab, Revell 046 Nato Olive Matt, Aervoe 999 Earth Brown and Tamiya XF51 Khaki Drab. As we all see (and sometimes spell) colours differently, there is some argument about which is the closest match.

, revell 68 matt green dark is prety close, with a little matt black extra you should be able to get the right color

Cheers muchly for the info on the green paint. Yes, the film/lighting made the kit look green, but I believe the actual paint used for the props was Humbrol brown bess.

so my gues is that ,the flametrowers and motion trackers are also brown bess on screen?.

Also would also be great to somehow make the counter indicate 95 in red , i wonder why they did that in green?

hey guys, I've not gotten around to redoing my marines yet (tooscared) lol . but i am planning the groundwork for a 1:1 set of Hicks inspired Halo ODST armor. I'd like to paint my chest plate the same green used on the aliens camo. Do you guys know what it is?

Sorry for making you guys alert on that special job on the shoulder lamp so soon. at the time i could not hide it from you guys longer,
, still hope that i will be the first to own a 1/6 shoulder lamp with light shining trough the grills on the side,(like the real s#it on screen)
The first or not , this s#it will rock . and here i go again, as soon as i get it i will make some nice shots, and am gonna have a party in cellebration of the prototype shoulder lamp from Hurricane-Glenns customs. very nice!.

You can find everything in this awesome thread, good advise comes from many sources. I think that the guys here were talking about just ,dark green.
i think this is good advise, but just check 4 a second opinion with a experienced artist or painter.
Dont be overhasty, thats almost never good.
(Now Thats some good old dutch advise for ya).
Just go with a reference picture trough all green colors available, take the closest one to match.
i think you can mix it up a little to get the right accent, and if not in a spraycan.
You could just be lucky and, find the exact color you want.

Jediguy, look forward to seeing your ODST armor! Which set did you get? I'm working on a set as well, have the helmet mostly done, just need to add mesh for the vents, suspension system, mic/speaker.

We're forming a squad in Singapore where I'm from. Did a mass buy. don't quote me but i think i got my kit from Sean Bradley. I'm overseas studying, so I haven't seen it in hand yet. But upon my return in a few weeks , I intend to get down and dirty with it and build it up over a course of a week. I can't wait. Thinking of all the possibilities lol

You could search for sneakers on e-bay, but thats probably lame advise,
But there are all kinds of sport shoes 1/6 scale on e-bay.

Man good luck finding them.I had to buy another ripley just to get mine.My advice for the head is to use the ada chan sculpt.He looks more accurate to the age of bishop compared to the frank black sculpt.

Yep, that's who did my kit as well-
Got the helmet painted and weathered, need to install vent mesh, padding, speaker/mic etc. and do the rest of the armor in time for DragonCon!!

Don't give up on ebay, I was lucky to find a loose set. It wasn't in the regular "aliens/Colonial Marines/ Ripley" type of subject line. I was looking through a Hong Kong or China seller of various 1/6th stuff. It was late at night, I was tired and I came across the sneakers. Can't remember for the life of me what they were listed as, but it was "WTF?? No _____?? YES!" Took a couple weeks, but they got here no problems!

Yo Guys!
i want to share that, i got the S-lamp and the M-tracker back from Hurricane, truely amazing what he does.
i just love the tracker, the lamp is almost perfect in every way, would recommand a mod by Hurricane to everybody!.

Gonna make some pictures this week, so you guys can check it out . Maybe if its possible, i will shoot a little Film of the motion tracker blinking. Pictures wont be any trouble. So pictures this upcoming wensday or this sunday.

I tryed to get a cam for today, but i failed. S#it!, not my fault BTW, someone just forgot the whole thing, sucks.
However, i do think i will have one this saturday morning., so i think pics this weekend will be a fact, hope your still here by then......
