By Crom, it's my custom Conan (almost finished)

Hi guys,

I finally got started on my 1/6 Conan. I'll use this thread to show you what I did as I go along so you can follow my progress ...

Step 1:

Got one of those muscular 12" Jakks WWF figures which I think is big enough for Arnold when he did Conan. Downside is the joints aren't hidden, which I hate, but I'll have to work around that...

For the head, I bought one of those Terminator 3 heads that fit a BBI body. Likeness is good enough, but it will need a repaint and new Conan-like hairstyle.

I then removed the Jakks head and neck connector and cut the neck of the T3 head and along the jawline.

I was planning on transplanting the Jakks neck joint into the T3 head, but actually that wasn't necessary since the head stays on on the neck nicely by itself...

Some pics of the body with head attached, and of Ahnuld swinging around his mighty x-acto knife :D

Oh, and just for fun: Ahnuld meeting his fiercest foe yet: the diabolical feline mastermind, a.k.a my cat :lol

REALLY cool future Conan! :rock
Can't wait to see what you do with him.

Do you know if the rubber/plastic the muscle body is made of, will take acrylic paint or not? That might make me get one....looks cool!

Thanks for the compliment, Les. Coming from you, that's a real honor! :bow

I'll try painting the body and head sometime in the next couple of days, and will let you know how it worked out.

looking real good, i was thinking of doing this myself & you have some great ideas. what look are you going with (as in armor type) ?

Here's a great Incredible Hulk custom using the same body.

The artist is Dan Chung. Here's a quote from his site regarding the paints.

"I just used acrylic craft paint as I don't believe there's a better paint in the proper shade of green that would adhere to the rubber body anyway."

Thanks for the kind words, guys!

Well, if this combo of head and body works out well in the end, I mind end up making different versions, but for now I was thinking of this look:

Yeah, I love Dan Chang's stuff, really creative.:monkey5

I was also planning on trying acrylic paints, so I'll let you guys know how that went with this body.

yea that first picture was what i was going to model mine after as well, kinda basic but classic. are you going to go with real hair or sculpted? also do you have his sword? i have a ebay site bookmarked that has his sword as a letter opener that is 1/6th scale & would work perfect.

Yep, I saw that letter opener sword and bought yesterday, so it's on its way, I hope it'll look good in terms of scale...

As for the hair, that's still a problem. First, I thought of cutting the hair he has now away with an x-acto knife and try to sculpt some long hair to achieve the look from the first picture, but I'm not sure yet.

Do you guys have any tips or ideas about this: rooted or sculpted hair? Which would be easier/look better?

never done either but i would assume if you did "real" hair and didnt like it , it would be easier to remove than the sculpted. i could be wrong but it seems logical.
