Some are picking them up for 500 or so. Defect or problems. Some of the colors can be different. Face plate from the rest of the body. Piston actuators can be broken, check light up feature, some of R2s blue panels I have seen are UNpainted, and some have a dent in the head and others don't. Those are some of the major ones off of the top of my head.

Yup, those are all the issues to look out for.

Yes! 3PO gets the dent on his head only after the attack from the Tusken Raiders.

both... 3po has a dent as mentioned before only after the Tusken attack... throughout Ep4 ... In ROTJ .. no dent again... same sandy weathering..

I just got my C-3PO & R2-D2 Premium Format Set, and all set them up.
BUT, Light up feature on C-3PO does not work !!
What am I doing wrong ??
I put the batteries in and pushed them to the far left as possible.
batteries are touching the silver metal plate on the left.
Any tips ?

Well, that SHOULD do it. Did you try reversing the batteries to go the other direction? It took me a bit to get mine settled in. In the end I only used one battery with no issues. Worked with one battery but not two for me. Just fiddle with it.

If reversing the position of the batteries doesn't work, try installing a fresh pair. If not, it could either be the bulbs themselves or wiring.
I really think it's the batteries though. GL.

I bet if you put some better batteries (energiser or duracells in there instead of the cheap ones provided you may see a difference in light throw. I'm gonna pick some up to see.

As long as they don't whiten 3PO's lights.
That shade of yellow is perfect.

Not really sure if stronger/better batteries could even do that.

I think it may change the intensity not the color.

I hardly turn my droids on but I feel the battery compartment could have been better for $700
