I'm still in shock that the EX went so fast. I hesitated given the price tag and the NRD that I would have to swallow right now and that was the difference. By all accounts I got on the WL about 3-4 mins after they sold out so I'll be curious to see if this converts. I have a hard time believing that there won't be some conversions given the price of these and once people have to cough up the the remainder when they ship.....it's just a matter of how many will convert.

I would have to think that SSC would have produced at least 250-500 EX versions because I can't recall SS making less than 500 EX PF's of any Star Wars piece, particularly a piece as anticipated as the two droids. It will be interesting to watch this unfold....

I just want a weathered R2. That's it. Poop on you Sideshow if we do not get that option.

BTW, another kick in the balls to those who attend SDCC: A convention "reveal" that sells out 2 weeks before whereas before attendees would have been able to pre-order it there no problem. Sideshow might as well stop having a huge booth there.

I missed the EX also.

What the heck SS. No notification or anything, i'd been there if i knew.

I'm looking at the website and there is no indication of anything happening. I see the banner at the top and see the comic con and there is that red Iron man thing on the left, now it says tomorrow's new release, but yesterday it was the same picture, don't think it said tomorrow's new release.

Go back to the Calendar you had the past few years. Why change, it worked good. This does not.

Actually, that who 'experience' page is not very well thought out. Very hard to follow or find anything. They need to go back to the drawing board and redesign that whole thing.

Actually, notifications were sent out. If you sign up for alerts on the SDCC page you will get emails for all the new announcements, product pre-orders etc. based on your preferences. I got a notification in my email about these going up, just didn't realize the EX would sell out so fast.

I've got to agree on this point. I loved the "old days" when the reveals actually happened at SDCC and you ordered there. It's just odd to me that I'll have seen everything at the show by the time I get there. Takes some of the "special" out of it.

$750 is just at the top end of what I'm willing to spend for these, so I guess Sideshow did a good job picking that number. I'm a little annoyed about the exclusive/regular being so different though. I actually prefer the regular, though, and I'll be ordering that through another retailer to save some money.

You should change your title to "Kicked in the Balls by Sideshow since 2006." :lol

Who cares about the attendees?? Lucky to even be able to go to the SDCC.
I, as one who can't go, probably ever, am happy for the chance I got to own this.

I can't believe how fast the ex sold, as soon as I got the email I went to the site and only saw the regular! I had to dig around for the ex, anyway, I'm on the waitlist

It takes ALL of the special out of it. What incentive is there to take the time to visit the SSC booth now? For crissakes you can't even get the Con "exclusives" there anymore.

But back to my main point: Not being able to order these PFs separately = FAIL and super-lame.

Yeah I got the announcement in my email 41 minutes AFTER it went live online to PO. So not much help there.

Well I went ahead and ordered the Regular version. I think If my EX version converts I may just keep both and wait to get them and choose which I like better after I have them both in hand.

I just can't tell from the photos.

Well I actually can. I like the weathered versions better overall. I think the reg edition of R2 kicks the EX version all over the place. 3PO Ex is a bit better but not by much.

Basically I want to know which one looks best in my collection. Will the Reg version look just Iconic with the better base and paint apps that look like the droids usually do, dirty and used. OR the Ex version where the nice and clean look just pops when you see them.

So hard to choose. I am leaning right now to the reg version. R2 just looks so great and he is by far my fav. character from the SWU.

From SS or which retailer has the best deal going? I guess I will go that route.

I went with SS. That way if there are any issues with either I can do an exchange.

I don't know. The more I think about it the more I think I will just go with the regular version. It's like my one friend said. You can get the clean version of the droids anywhere but if done well the painted/dirty versions can look amazing. I am just worried that SS will mess up that paint.

Also the Douple base for the EX is just an epic fail IMO. There two need to be on the the same base.

TBD just means TBA. They knew the ES.

no but it is a bit strange a tbd would sell out this fast. The only time that happened was with joker ex and even that took more than 1 day if i remember.

The joker ex was a normal tbd though, basically ss had an oh **** moment when they realized the # of orders were already above 1000 and had to close out the preorder right now before the ES got out of hand. So it went into soldout with a TBD, it wasnt until later when they had more time that they finally figured out the es.

But this is definitely is strange, despite the popularity of the character & star wars, it's still a $750 statue, i cant imagine many people ordered it especially since sideshow didnt even announce it. The link/photo etc..all pointed to the regular edition.

So not sure what is going on or how it got soldout so fast, it's definitely an odd situation.
