Has this already been discussed?? Just wondering because everything about the Reg version now seems more like an EX then the EX.

Kinda pulled a Boromir here. Everyone was getting the EX arm so they switched the pictures on the website so it now looks correct? I have not confirmed this but I saw someone post about it earlier today

Quick question. Do both versions of R2 have the hidden light-sabre? I didn't see anything saying he didn't but I also didn't see anything saying he did.

As someone who got the Ex of Boromir, this is, indeed, what happened.

BTW, another kick in the balls to those who attend SDCC: A convention "reveal" that sells out 2 weeks before whereas before attendees would have been able to pre-order it there no problem. Sideshow might as well stop having a huge booth there.

Irish, though I understand what you're saying, I really don't think having a PF for pickup at the Con is too smart. What would people do with that big box?

I don't think he's talking about PF con pick up, though you can't even pick up attendee exclusives this year. It's that these Con reveals used to be revealed at SDCC and you could preorder on the spot and now you can't since they are being revealed and sold online a couple of weeks early. It was another perk of being at the con, like getting the SSC exclusives, that is no more.

Actually, notifications were sent out. If you sign up for alerts on the SDCC page you will get emails for all the new announcements, product pre-orders etc. based on your preferences. I got a notification in my email about these going up, just didn't realize the EX would sell out so fast.

I got the email way after this went up. That's the way it is with my Sideshow emails.

No hidden lightsaber. This is ANH R2, not ROTJ R2.

My guess would be both would have it. Are they really going to have some with bolts, lightsabers and the others don't? Different bases too? Way too much to think about for which version I would really want to end up with.....

Maybe I am glad I didn't have the choice to amke in that 1 hour.

Unfortunately, I missed the ex, I was playing baseball against our grade 8's when it went up. I don't get the express updates at work, so I'm a little disappointed at this point. i like the regular, but I wanted a shiny r2. I'm also disappointed that these are only available as a set, though I can see the marketing sense in it, they don't want a pile left to end up on the gift card list in a months time. I may order the desert one as I do like the removeable restraining bolts.

You should change your title to "Kicked in the Balls by Sideshow since 2006." :lol

:lol:lol:lol

It takes ALL of the special out of it. What incentive is there to take the time to visit the SSC booth now? For crissakes you can't even get the Con "exclusives" there anymore.

But back to my main point: Not being able to order these PFs separately = FAIL and super-lame.

I can speak for myself but it doesn't take any of the special out of it for me. For a few days I get to look over items I will own but won't have for several months all while lucky enough to be there.

I think it was said during the SSF party last year these would be sold as a set.

Again, agreed. These are the least exclusive exclusives ever released. :wink1:

Obviously it's about saving money and not dragging all that stock down there. They're clearly going to be bringing many fewer employees as well since they don't need to take orders or fulfill orders (or at least not nearly as many orders) at the show.

Sideshow's convention strategy is clearly to scale everything way back. They're not even showing up again at Star Wars Celebration. Someone over there must have determined that it's not paying off for them like it used to. Being at shows for so many years, they must feel they're brand recognition has reached saturation and can carry them forward.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

And no... my order hasn't converted yet. :( Bummed, because it's been a couple hours. :rotfl

They don't go to the celebrations because they're being held on the itherside of the country. If it was in Cali again I'd bet they would be there.

no but it is a bit strange a tbd would sell out this fast. The only time that happened was with joker ex and even that took more than 1 day if i remember.

The joker ex was a normal tbd though, basically ss had an oh **** moment when they realized the # of orders were already above 1000 and had to close out the preorder right now before the ES got out of hand. So it went into soldout with a TBD, it wasnt until later when they had more time that they finally figured out the es.

But this is definitely is strange, despite the popularity of the character & star wars, it's still a $750 statue, i cant imagine many people ordered it especially since sideshow didnt even announce it. The link/photo etc..all pointed to the regular edition.

So not sure what is going on or how it got soldout so fast, it's definitely an odd situation.

Who's to say what the edition size is. They can change it and no one will know the difference.

As for for the link in the email. If you hit the link at the top, it took you to the ex....the bottom, it took you to the regular. At least that's what it did for me.

I WLed the Ex. I won't get the regular because I want it clean.

It drives me crazy that as soon as the item sells out you loose the image of the EX on the main page. That is so goofy. Then off to searching for it.

Yup......the exclusive was suppose to be the raised arm, but turned out the exclusive was the lowered arm, which most people won't use anyway. So people ordering the regular got the raised arm that most wanted in the first place. Some complained they could've gotten the regular at a cheaper price elsewhere.

LOL I did not know that about boromir. I remember thinking who would not want the EX of him back when it was the raised arm and felt bad for those who may have missed him.

I don't know if that is what is going on with these two I just can't believe you get the restraing bolts and the better base with the reg version.

Oh I see. Maybe there will be a couple of things they'll be able to do that to once the con gets underway.

In the regular pictures I see 3POs arms in many differnt positions. Both arms.
