Premium Format C-3PO & R2-D2 Premium Format Set

I am really happy to have an option for separate bases. The two separate pieces will display in a lot of places that wouldn't work with the giant footprint of the single desert base. I need a PF to fit in the available shelf space, and I also prefer the PF line as an opportunity to study a single character at a time rather than a diorama approach. The droids can go next to each other, of course, but I prefer two distinct PFs--one for each character. So I'm happy with the EX and I'm glad I ordered it. Thankfully, those who prefer the regular won't have a hard time getting one.

Well they said R2 isn't attached so if you don't like the diorama look you can remove him and have him wandering off at the far end of the shelf. Then you can raise one of 3PO's arms in a "fine, go that way" pose.

Glad these sold out. Reminds me of days when there was anticipation for what was coming. Not that having these available down the line isn't appealing. Hope SS kept the ES small and they don't "find" some in the warehouse.

Ok here is my own personal therory.

Both the reg and the EX will come with individual "black" bases

They will also come with a larger base to display both

Reg will have the tatooine version

and the EX will have the "special' Yavin version

I say this because the photos of the Ex base are not Yavin
The scene in Star Wars on Yavin when they were both cleaned up had a stone floor

And lets face it. It makes no sense to not offer a base that you can place both on. And since R2 is listed on both as having working wheels I am guessing this means he is movable and so you can place him closer to 3PO

I think the 2 black bases are the Yavin EX bases. If you look closely, there is a texture and some linework on the top of the bases. Similar to the tatooine base, the border and bottoms is the black material but the top is sort of like the stone you see in the Yavin scene. Besides, why would the images for the EX NOT show the EX bases...that makes no sense. In any case, I much prefer the tatooine base where you can display them together. why did they not just make one large Yavin base?

I bet I am right. There is just no way that that is a Yavin base. In fact it says it comes with a special yavin BASE not Bases.

Perhaps the reg edition wont come with the two black bases but that also makes sense for those who want to display them in different areas in their room or just want to display one of them and not both.

I mean we are paying a good price for these two. Two Pfs should come with two bases or in this case three.

All very confusing right now.
The pre-order went up overnight for me in Oz, get up this morning and then see its already sold out ....then look at them both and see the regular is so much better.

...I feel I should order the regular quickly before Sideshow realizes they accidently reversed the EX and reg editions and corrects their mistake

Calling that EX base the Yavin base just throws me off.

I looked closely at the base & it has a different design on the top of it. I guess that is what the design is called Yavin

If the EX has ONE base, they should have shown it. I'd prefer the clean but like the bigger base for both.

Seems like SS has had some surprises like that in the past (TOD Indy came with extra hand)

The reason for no photos could be because it was not ready yet. I also just don't see any Yavin in those bases at all.

And is C-3PO really that short?
Sounds like he is going to be the same height as the Leia PF? 16.5 inches?

I wonder if this is a scam to scare people into buying a million reg versions then they will pull up the saved stock for the ex and we might convert. That way we will buy both sets.

I figured the pair would be $800... so a bit less than I thought. And remember you can knock off $75 if you buy the regular through a retailer

Well, it would make sense to just go with the EX version then try to snag the regulars at some point after the fact. If SS does the same with the 1/6th versions, clean EX and dirty Regular, I'd be pretty happy.

This is why I think we have yet to see the "special" Yavin base. These two are ment to be displayed together. With the two bases they just don't display that well together at all.

The bases shown on the Ex. version are the bases that are included with C-3PO/R2-D2. There is no plan to include an additional base with the Exclusive version. Since the Ex. Droids are in their 'Yavin' look (eg: shiny and clean) that is why the word 'Yavin' has been used.

The regular Edition will only come with the desert base.

Thanks for the clarification on the bases. As far as I remember, times when things went up for order during previous events (SDCC, Spooktacular) were also never posted. So this is not a new thing and gives everyone a fair shot to get what they want.
