I agree and disagree with these flipping comments. A lot depends on the property. Aliens/Predator have their hardcore fans, but no where close to SW. More people = more people who are willing to spend crazy amounts.

Take the Optimus maquette for instance. I believe that was a grand out of the box (maybe a bit more I'm going off memory) and even before it was shipping it was selling for close to double. Yes the ES was somewhat smaller than the droids, but it still brought a hefty profit for those that wished to flip.

I'm not saying these will follow suit with Prime, but I believe the possibility is definitely there. Hype is a strong tool. If these turn out great and everyone is impressed I don't think it will take long for the price to skyrocket. The only thing that could possibly keep it grounded for awhile is the amount of regulars being readily available.

Low edition is a plus for me. In fact, I will not buy anything of an open edition.
To me, it's not just having something that depicts a certain character, sitting in my house - It has to be somewhat rare, or limited.
I like the thrill of the hunt, and when I look at an item that has a limited run, it makes it much more enjoyable for me to know that I am one of the not-so-many to have it.

I feel the same way. The hunt is what has kept me collecting for almost 20 years now. What a rush when you finally have that one piece you have been hunting for months/years to get in your collection.

I got on the waitlist right away, but I'm not sure I want the Exes. I prefer the regular base. If this converts, will I automatically be charged the NRD, or will they ask me first? I've never waitlisted an item with a NRD before.

You'll get an email if your waitlist converts before it turns into an order. Only when it turns into an order will the NRD be charged. If you don't want the item anymore just call immediately to cancel,

I have one cabinet, a bookshelf and three Detolfs. At 14.5 inches, the regular base is too large for any of those display spaces. Thank goodness I got the EX, I'd have nowhere to put the regular. If it fit in a Detolf I'd be more tempted.

I don't think Detolfs are great for PFs anyway, what with their non-adjustable shelves.

Artoo looks 100% on this, still not sold on Threepio - head looks slightly off somehow and as everyone pointed out during SDCC, that weathering looks like he's fresh out of the oil bath. I was looking forward to Threepio the most on this release, hoping the final pics look great...

that's dangerous, there are couple incidents i remember where the glass cracked, as the whole thing rests on the vertical glass..and as they age. Those are fine for 1/6 but heavy 1/4 statues? i would never do it.

We wanted to cancel the PO for the Ex, and a member here offered to take over.
Well, he backed out, and our NRD already hit of course, so guess I'll be getting this after all.... Don't know if should be happy or bummed out.

I'm sure others here would offer to take it over, however, I would just keep it for yourself and wait to see if you like it when you receive it. If not you can always sell it when you receive it.

Agreed. I have the regular on order, and am glad I didn't opt for the exc. While the edition size is nice and low, in the end I know I will be happier with the look of the regular regardless of the edition size. And who knows, the regular edition size may come in pretty low as well simply because of the price of these guys. $750 is no chump change!

If that happens, I will have to snap one up sooner than I expected. I was hoping for a next year purchase on this one. This set is amazing.
