OK I hate the series for the following reasons. The first COD game you had non linear levels with actual objectives, finding documents, blowing things up etc etc. Now we have a simple path through scripted levels where there are barely any objectives apart from shoot dumb AI goons from point A to B. Any objectives that are there are highlighted in Text ' Plant explosives here'. Its cheap and insulting. The single player campaigns are short, averaging 5-7 hours at best, they are virtually the same every year, the engine has been the same for 5 games now and the formula never changes. The multi-player is the same every time and it all feels generic. Yet people lap it up, every November and Activision make millions off a game that is 6 years old. Its trash, its simple and its a game for people who don't play games. I hate it for the same reasons I hate Michael Bay movies. They are both throwaway BS but people still buy it.

Rant over.

I've played the first CoD game when it came out, and it's pretty much the same style we see today. It also said "Do this here". And why would the engine need a change? It doesn't look or act outdated to me.

I'm a huge gamer and I love every Call of Duty Activision puts out :dunno It's fun, it's entertaining, and it's a great experience.

If you hate it so much, why are you even in this thread?

One thing I wanted to add, about the linear style. It has to be, that's realistic. If you squad leader tells you to get into the building on the left, what are you gonna do, stay outside and take a piss? No, you go into the building on the left.

Anyway, anyone wanna add me on Steam? I'm not the best player out there but I'd like to have some fun with Freaks. Username: TheDoctor504

I've been playing Dark Souls for a while now. It doesn't get more hardcore than that game today. I play all types of games. If it's fun to me I will play.

I also enjoy the so called "Bay style" gameplay of the Call of Duty games too. Mindless? Sure! But I enjoy the big budget look and blowing everything up. :lol Sometimes for me it's fun to play through a campaign in a few days. I don't have all day to play a game and it usually takes me a week to get though a Call of Duty game on hard. The stories have gotten better as well. I thought Black Ops had a great story.

To each their own.

My only gaming gripe in the past few years has been EA's tight grip on the Madden series. I refuse to buy any updates of it. You wan't to talk about a tired franchise that is it IMO. However, I understand people will eat it up every year because it's all they got.

Don't look now but my M-16 with red dot is pointed at you:gun:nana:

People here are so quick to say 'why come on here' and jump down others throats'. Did you make the game? No so why take offense? Its a forum. You don't have to be a sheep to take part in the threads.

xD

Kind of funny, there are 2 Michael Bay cinematic scenes from the Rock that were written into the campaign story for modern warfare 2.

Because I think everyone in this thread wants to talk about how excited they are about the release of this game, not how it's a bad game (which is exactly what you are trying to preach to us).

Damn, I just want to know what happens to Soap and MacTavish.

I've seen that...

Something happens with them involved :D

In all fairness, most FPS game campaigns these days are scripted and linear, all of your other points seem valid enough though.

Been calling around my local EB Games, Futureshop, and Bestbuy...they all predict people lining up at least 3 hours before midnight... no way I'm standing out in the cold for 3 hours :lol

I'm just linger in around 12, don't really care about all the free crap ;)

Loved the shower scene part. Enjoyed playing that very much and picked up on the reference right away. I kept shouting at the TV "I will not give that order!" :rotfl
