Looks like hot toys is about to gain some of sideshow's custom. Not a good sign ...

anyone willing to use this body on any of their other figures? I'd like to see Luke and Anakin done.

It was inevitable. Sideshow makes Hot Toys more easily available to the US, we start seeing how things could be.

The one normal human male Hot Toys figure I have, Hicks, is *perfectly* proportioned in his fatigues and armor. He looks like a small living person. Only thing that throws him off is the headsculpt/paint apps, which aren't as good as Sideshow's. Combine the superior Sideshow head with superior Hot Toys body = almost perfect figure.

The current sideshow body works with some figures. My Subject 5 uses it well. My George Washington looks great. But that Han... he looks like a doll. I know technically he is, but he doesn't HAVE to look it...

My big fear is when Sideshow releases their first Storm Troopers... how spindly they'll look compared to those awesome customs using Dragon bodies and Marmit armor. Sure, those cost substantially more than the Sideshow figures will, but there's no reason for that to be the case.

So, count me signed on for a new standard sideshow body.

Paul, I'd try it on Anakin, except for the arm, which I don't see a way around. Luke would probably end up too tall.

Nah we need a 6'6" Luke. Don't you know ALL heroes are 6' or taller?!

:rotfl

"Aren't you a little tall to be a 'Stormtrooper Luke'??"

Doh! :lol I was thinking along the lines of better length of arms! I agree Luke still needs to be short.

I was thinking of maybe modding the arm to accept the peg on the anakin arm . I'm actually thinking of buying a body to swap over for Obi wan. I like the poses from the Han but I'm waiting for the ANH Han personally.

Thanks for your comments Guys!

Don't Hot Toys figures keep the same general price, even though they upgrade their bodies every year?

the hot toys figure prices did not increase with the new body, but they don't upgrade their bodies every year. they had an older style body that they used for a long time, probably 5 years. it was very similar to the ultimate soldier body.

no company that i know has ever increased their boxed figure prices because they introduced a new body. even sideshow didn't increase their figure prices just because they introduced the "big boy" body. they only increased prices when they lowered edition sizes.

I am by no means an 1/6 expert or even a collector, but in observing the thread with the HT Han, it looks decidedly better. The head no longer is so dramatically out of proportion, and the shoulders fill the jacket much better. It significantly improves this figure, no doubt.

As for the SW line and SS's body choice, well; you would think that they want to stay ahead, but at the same time, costs are likely a figure for two reasons: a) they can make more of a profit without having to redesign a new body, b) people will probably still buy them because they are Star Wars -- it's your fault their servers melt. :lol :monkey5

Sideshow definitely needs better bodies -- either R&D their own or use another company's, like Hot Toys.

But I've noticed in looking at the Bespin Han on a HT body pics, it looks like his headsculpt has been repainted too. The eye brows don't look like stitches and it looks like the hand of a talented customizer has made his mark. That makes Han look better too.

I would think with enough people expressing their concerns, Sideshow would bite the bullet and upgrade the bodies. There may even be changes in the works that haven't been revealed yet ...

We NEED another body.

We need medicom-like ball shoulders that go all the way back and forward. Ball joint hips that completely fill the gaps, and lastly, better torso and arm proportions.

The near-perfect figure:

yes, sideshow should probahbly take this into attention because even over at the www.onesixthwarriors.com forum, the military figure fanatics also complain about the sideshow bodies.
They say they're too tall in scale or long...
so...sideshow should definately issue a new version

One thing people need to consider is SS has bodies that are different heights, not just one like most companies. Upgrade one and you have to upgrade them all.

Or you could cheap your way out like Medicom did with Vader and just add inserts to make the lower legs longer, and every other limb out of scale with it. Nice job there mister overpriced toy producer.

medicom does take the easy way out but their bodies are one of the best.

I'm guess each body will always have a pro and a con and if you fix something, another thing will seem wrong..

That is a good point. Maybe just a redesign of the body would work. My issues with the body are only the hip joints and the shoulders. The long arm issue has been addressed and wrist doesn't really bother me all that much. At the same time though, minor flaws still make for some outstanding figures.

And short cuts is what keeps someone from being the best.

I agree. If Sideshow is going to upgrade their bodies, they will need to upgrade all height variations. Otherwise, it defeats what is special about their bodies. I'm not sure if any other company produces multiple height variations like Sideshow and I don't want that to disappear.

Which again is why I keep asking what will doing all this do to the price. Having multiple heights in their bodies will the charge be more than the say $5-10.

Was there ever an verification from Sideshow that it retooled the 'long arms' problem on its short body so that Darth Maul isn't released with ape arms?

I just couldn't remember whether the company had officially addressed this issue.

I do believe Brant said something on this board.

No problem MC. :duff

Yes indeed Josh, he said they corrected the small body forearm length issue with Maul. :D

That's what I thought but I'm lucky to remember my name with everything going on lately.
