Can/Will SSC Finally Ditch These Inferior Art S Buck Bodies?

It seems the Triad bodies are very limited in articulation, so I wouldn't want them used for clothed figures.

It's funny, but the design team at SSC are all hardcore military buffs and the body was designed to do all the things that the other 1/6 scale bodies on the market couldn't do, such as aim a rifle properly. They have a wider range of motion than a lot of the bodies out there too.

I don't think they're perfect, but they are far better than Dragon's and no one can argue with the articulation.

And I really don't see how the HT body improved Han. It's simply posed a little better and some of the other pics. Poses that the SSC body can easily emulate.

Dave,

I truly honor and respect your opnion but I disagree. The bodies at one time were great bodies but the rest of the industry has caught up and surpassed SS. I can make my Medicom Spidey do things that in no way a SS body can duplicate. The Takara Batman also is much more natural in its posability. The HT body has better proportions and is even more posable. It's body is much more fluid and sturdy. The new HT body just blows SS body out of the water. I have some dragon bodies too, although they might not be as posable (a point I also disagree with) but they are much sturdier. Whenever I get a new SS figure, I hear myself start praying that I don't get loose joints. Sure every manufacturer has its share of mishaps but a large portion of my SS figures have loose legs and arms right out of the box. Something that I have yet to experience with any other manufacturer.

Cheers,

Brad

SSC's bodies have a decent range of motion/articulation, but half the time it just looks plain awkward due to the lack of proportion (long arms, thin arms, skinny waist, shoulders, etc). Sure they can be posed in many ways, but that doesnt matter much if the overall look of the figure is bad and unnatural in that pose.

IMO, SSC's bodies fall some where in the middle out of all the bodies out on the market today.

I agree that the proportion issues with the Art S Buck bodies hamper these figures. But the bottom line is this: the base bodies are NOT up to the level of quality that SSC puts into the rest of these figures (Head Sculpts, Clothing, Accessories, etc).

It's like making the coolest-looking Corvette and then throwing the body on Chevy Cavalier frame. It does a disserve to the figure overall.

These bodies (and factory paint apps) are indeed holding the figures back.

I don't understand what everyone has against these. I like the proportions (they're more like mine: lanky) and I can no longer live without the wrists.

I'm pretty lanky, too. But that's not the point. Han (Harrison Ford) isn't lanky. And Mark Hamill's arms don't reach to his knees. They also don't have the equivalent of 16" waists. THAT is the point. These figures are not proportional to many of the characters.

Now, the wrists I like as well. But I don't see why we would have to sacrifice those just to have a base body that isn't shaped like a stick figure.

I don't think they look like stick figures. It's that the arms can't hang naturally, so they tend to look awkward. And the wrist joint is the one joint where I DO care about aesthetics. Well second to the neck joint. But the wrist joint comes right after. There must be a better way to do the wrists. I haven't had the fortune to see a Hot Toys body in person, but from the pictures I've seen, the wrists look quite attractive. Now the question is, can they articulate?

Now we'll just have to wait until late September to find out.

I agree. If Sideshow is going to upgrade their bodies, they will need to upgrade all height variations. Otherwise, it defeats what is special about their bodies. I'm not sure if any other company produces multiple height variations like Sideshow and I don't want that to disappear.

It's only the legs below the thigh joint and the forearms that are different between the normal and short males atleast.

i don;t think a slight change here and there deserves an variation in pricing.
they are a mass producing company and improving something will cost money but also bring in that many more buyers, i presume.

the fact that they are changing it is because most of the figures are clothed, and not many care about the hieght problem or proportion by alot, since Sideshow is known for their headsculpts.

but if this was brought to their attention once again, I could definately count on a new version :D
