don't know if this is the place to put this but i just got confirmation that my local distributor/dealer in western Canada is no longer going to be handling sideshow product (other that 1/6, yea )

anyone else in canada with a distributor by them heard the same?? i don't think there is anymore in western canada, but maybe there is in eastern

from what i was told ssc would rather deal directly with the customer instead of have someone else acting on their behalf.

thats sorta contradictory with SSC's whole "retail network" promotion thing. sounds like a cop out by your dealer to me.

It is true, and it is a sad, sad day. I don't know the reasons why though.

Maybe someone else will pick SS up here and distribute. I know at least one store is going to continue to get SS product in.

It was confirmed in chat yesterday by Greg that Sideshow will not longer be selling to DISTRIBUTORS in Canada, but instead selling directly to the direct dealers / retailers. We are working on getting some chat transcripts posted, but it could be a few days as they need a lot of 'cleaning up' of the random chatter. :duff

Here is the quote from the chat.

Canadian distribution - yes, we are changing our Canadian plans, but have not made a full announcement as of yet. We plan to ship more products directly to re-sellers/retailers throughout Canada, rather than working through distributors, as we have found that system does not get the product into the marketplace as quickly as we'd like it. We are sensitive to the costs and would like to work on that aspect of the Canadian marketplace.

I personally think this is great because there has been countless times where I have been waiting for some dealers to receive their orders from the distributors, some times over a year from when the product was instock:horror. The distributors have been extremely slow to get product out to resellers/dealers.

sounds like a positive to me...cutting out the middleman potentially reduces the end prices for consumers or bolsters revenues to Sideshow.

Definitely one of the main reasons that Greg stated!

In case you missed it in recent Newsletters, our wholesale department is looking for retail stores in Canada to sell directly to! If you have a comic or collectibles store in your neighborhood and they don't yet carry Sideshow items, please suggest it! Here's the info: https://www.sideshowtoy.com/?p=14585

I've sent a location in twice over the past two requests (J & J cards and Collectibles). Hopefully it shows up because the form was for US locations only and it was difficult to put in a Canadian company. I put the correct info on the address in the comments box.

Thanks! I'm sure that will be fine :) Hopefully it pans out for you and us! :duff

Canadian distributors would be great! It would be nice to be able to score a local bargain from time to time without having to go on ebay and take chances buying from sellers who have virtually no experience in business transactions or in shipping.
