Best option would be to attach the hinges to the acrylic first... so bring the hinges to the acrylic shop and ask them to drill the holes where you'd like to place the hinges.. I recommend 4 hinges per door if you have the 93" Pax.

For support brackets, Ikea makes a clothes hanger bracket that can be turned around and used under the shelves.. it's already perfect fitted. It's called Komplement, you leave out the center clothes hanger and just use the bracket. You could also go to Home Depot and cut some steel bars and use L brackets but the Ikea option is a cleaner look.

Do you just take off the clothing hangar part bars and then just flip this and drill your own holes?

Also, does this allow you to put more weight on these shelves with upgraded lugpins as well? I have metal lugpins that say they can support up to 150lbs I bought and was wondering if the shelf can handle around 80lbs if i reinforce it with the support shelves and lug pins

Thanks!

Also, on a separate note, for the acrylic doors, do these doors sit inside the frame of wardrobe or just outside and around the wardrobe frame (slightly larger than the inner space.

Would love to know what's the best method to go with on that for measurement sizing (I have the smaller height wardrobe and need to measure the height for the acrylic piece accurately)

Yes that's it. I personally just completed the project last weekend but I know a few other people that have done it and no complaints. My only concern was the Pax is hollow between the peg hole areas.. but there's enough support to stop the shelves from bowing. I wanted extra support for weight, so I was originally going to bolt straight through for extra strength but ended up just using the screws and re-inforcing the holes and surrounding area with some epoxy glue. Between the two bars per shelf, and metal pegs.. I'm hoping for 60lbs per shelf. But you could probably go heavier. I've spoken to a few people who just use the metal pegs alone and put around 80lbs per shelf. Another person I've spoken to who used the Ikea bars said they held his entire body weight. It's not really the shelves or support bars you need to worry about, it's the side panels of the Pax.. particle board is not good at holding a screw.. they can easily rip out. So which is why I went with epoxy glue.. just note once you do that it's permanent so you have to commit to that shelf height. That looks fantastic! Thank you so much for the information! I'll be copying this method myself!

Also, on a separate note, for the acrylic doors, do these doors sit inside the frame of wardrobe or just outside and around the wardrobe frame (slightly larger than the inner space. I'm trying to get mine custom made now. I'm going to copy the width but my height is much different so I want to make sure I measure it right and set it properly.

Would love to know what's the best method to go with on that for measurement sizing (I have the smaller height wardrobe and need to measure the height for the acrylic piece accurately)

Also, suggestion on handles? I'm so dang excited for this display case!

I'm using custom aluminum glass doors.. costs about $350 a door + shipping if you're not in the NY area.. if interested pm me and I'll get you the details. The aluminum frame is a cross between the Ikea Tombo and Glassvik door.IMG_20180405_161819.jpgIMG_20180405_161855.jpgIMG_20180405_161934.jpg

Also can someone explain to me how the intermediate power cord works and why I would need 4? (I also only have 1 unit to light up currently... will need to build a second one though

I'm using the Norrfly light strips from Ikea made for Pax. If I remember correctly it's up to 9 light strips per transformer and you can daisy chain up to 10 transformers off of one power plug.. so 90 cubes you can light up if you wanted to off one power supply. They also make smaller transformers like 3 or 5 if you need only a few light strips. Everything is on Ikea's website under lighting accessories for Pax.

I need that door and I live in new jersey 20 minutes from nyc. That goes perfect with the shelf I do not know why IKEA doesn't sell this.

What kind of stands are you using for your masks?

Thanks for the compliment man. [emoji481] The majority of my masks are on stands I made myself out of wood circular plaques, iron flanges and pipe, painted flat black. I’ve put an absurd amount of time into it all lol.

Doors are still holding up great, sorry it took me so long to respond. Ive added some extra reinforcements to the top shelf of each, which i will add to this post.

Can you please take a picture on how the hole on the acrylic door is drilled?

From my understanding, the hole needs to be drilled less than 1/4? from the edge which is really dangerous as it may crack the acrylic sheet.

Please help

Thanks Shaughn, I'm very happy with how this came out. And no problem displaying Deathstroke with the bow staff, the cabinets are huge and very deep. And I definitely recommend getting the plastic company to cut and install the hinges, I didn't fully appreciate that the notches had to be cut directly into the acrylic until I got the doors delivered. But the hinges themselves are hefty and definitely the right ones for these heavy doors, plus they are overlay so you don't have to cut the shelves!

damit. This is the step I missed where a notch needs to be cut to the doors for this hinge to be installed. I really missed this step and need to consider alternatives on how can this be done ?
