Saweeet.

"First principles, Clarice. Simplicity. Read Marcus Aurelius. Of each particular thing ask: what is it in itself? What is its nature? What does he do, this man you seek?"

Clarice would respond, "Get me a bad-ass sculptor...,"

"Was she a great big fat person?"

Red Dragon was on late last night and it only got me further excited for a Hannibal :rock

Red Dragon is my second favorite of the Hopkins films. While Hannibal has some really cool moments, I just much prefer Lecter behind the glass playing the manipulator and screwing with people with his words. I haven't seen and refuse to watch Hannibal Rising, Anthony Hopkins IS Hannibal Lecter for me and I have no interest in anyone else playing him. I know Brian Cox is technically the original, but I don't like him in the role either, Hopkins makes the character.

Red Dragon was a very good film.

Edward Norton & Ralph Fiennes are fine actors and they played their roles incredibly well.

The way Fiennee suffered from the delusion that a bizarre man/dragon depicted in a painting by William Blake is speaking to him, like the Son of Sam, and guiding his blood-drenched evolution into a godlike superbeing, was creepy and acted beautifully. Also, that hairlip which makes him unattractive to women, added another level of creepiness to his character.

Norton, overall, is such a good actor, I'm just glad the same person that delivered Money Talks, Rush Hour and The Family Man, was able to give us a very good film.

Re: Let's get a Hannibal Lecter already!!!

I agree about Red Dragon being a very good movie. I like Manhunter about equally, as both have terrific performances that work for each respective version of that story.

Goes to show how little a director matters when you have a good story and good actors that a crap-tastic hack like Brett Ratner could direct that movie and it turns out so good.

Re: Let's get a Hannibal Lecter already!!!

Well, going by what's been documented with Norton and the incredible Hulk, I'd imagine he had some inputs for his stuff, and I think by Red Dragon, people pretty much felt it was Hopkins' role so I'm sure he had a lot of input on things too. I loved the closing shot leading up to Clarice's arrival, though I did find it odd they didn't match Chilton's costume, can't imagine it would be that hard. That guy really aged badly. I was impressed how younger Hopkins was able to get himself looking, was it just like Lambs, no, but he did look better than Hannibal.
