Not sure, my belt was laying on the body too. I thought it fell out of it's compartment since I opened the packaging where Cap was facing down.
That's how I do it
Okay clipping the belt together was about the most terrifying four minutes of my day. But now...I'm in awe. This statue is just a marvel (no pun intended) from all angles. The mixed media, color contrasts, pose, weathering, expression, accessories. This one hits it out of the park on all levels. And screw that "essense of Cap" crap I was spewing earlier. The gun gives such presence and additional height to the statue. I'll definitely be keeping that on display for a while! 
(Though for any who missed out on the EX he really DOES look absolutely spectacular without it.)
While the kite shield isn't quite vomit inducing I did give it to him for a second and it was truly disheartening. Not because they screwed it up but because his silhouette looks so good with gun and kite shield. It's just that when your eye goes to the actual shield specifically it's so freaking cheap looking. Into the box it went, probably permanently. It would have been such a nice alternative option.
But hey, it's Captain America we're talking about here and this is a dude known for a ROUND shield and they nailed that one. Bravo. This statue ROCKS.
Damn I feel like it's Christmas all of a sudden. Maybe I should open my EX Red Skull and GG Widow.

I felt the same way about the Thompson when I ordered it, thinking I would never display it like that, but I might as well get the EX since if I ever go sell it...
But from certain (most) angles, the gun makes the composition of the piece much stronger.
The statue still functions without it. Anyone that doesn't have the Ex can get along merrily without it and never really realize what is missing.
But if you do have it, and switch back and forth between the various hands, I expect you'll see that the Thompson gives the piece a little more power and impact. That's less because of what the object represents as much as what it's general shape adds and where it adds it.
That to me is a great EX and one I end up valuing more than something that just adds a lot of extra detail, but hasn't been as thoughtfully integrated for maximum impact.
Thanks for all the congrats guys! Funny to think that after a year and a half of taco gifs and exploding whales we finally have him standing proudly in our homes.

Yea, my Kite shield arrived yesterday so I still have to take some pics of it together with the PF...looks much better painted however, being a fussy git, I'm sending mine off again to get re-re-painted
decided that I'm gonna go for something with less battle damage on it
