Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Both outfits had their place in their respective films. TFA one was more utilitarian, while the Avengers was more symbolic - if not less practical. Coulson did say "people just might need a little old-fashioned"... I don't really care which one they use, so long as it works for the general tone of the movie.

I guess that is true (though the original suit was also meant to be symbolic and used to inspire. . .otherwise it would have been totally black or camo colored). But being "modern" does not necessarily mean something has to look weird/awkward IMO. I think sticking with the comics--essentially a USO suit treated a bit more seriously--would have worked better. Add some chain mail and other durable materials but keep the essential design--WITH wings.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

The modern Cap needs a sidearm at the very least, he's a WW2 Combat vet for petesake,
disappointed Whedon overlooked that. There are ways to make Caps uniform closer to the
actual present day Special Forces but still keep the symbolism.
I'd also like to see the rails I'm seeing on alot of modern helmets incorporated into Caps helm. That could help I think.
But most importantly....

add a &$!?% chin strap!!!

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Modern day Cap can't carry a gun, because in the modern day guns are bad. He needs to give bad guys a time out.

Sadly this might be the thought process of the powers that be.
PC Idiots.

IGN:

Captain America's New Costume?

Steve Rogers might be adopting his Secret Avengers look in Winter Soldier.

The days are over when superheroes would just wear the same old suit for years and years and years. And while for a guy like Iron Man it always made sense for him to keep upgrading his armor, it looks like Marvel's plan is for their other heroes to keep changing garb as well. I guess that makes sense as well, really (and not just because you can sell more toys that way).

Anyway, a leaked image has shown up that purports to be Captain America's new uniform for (at least part of) his next film, The Winter Soldier. Take a look at the concept design below, though keep in mind that this image cannot be confirmed at this time:

CBM landed the image, and while we don’t know for sure if this is a design from the sequel, it definitely looks like the art style that we've seen in past Marvel concept art.

As the site points out, the new suit looks as though it's taking its inspiration from the comics, specifically the Secret Avengers/Steve Rogers.

What do you guys think of this look? Lots of folks have complained about Cap's Avengers costume (it kind of grew on me). If this is the real thing, is it an improvement?

CBM:

One of the few criticisms of fans about THE AVENGERS, was a dislike of the suit worn by Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America. So, we figured there would be a revamp in store for Cappy's sequel movie. Well, CBM scooper "Flint" sent us some concept art, and this may be it! Tell us what you think.

Taking a que from the heroic age suit (see comic book image below), gone are the midriff stripes. While you can't see it from this new artwork, the star on Cappy's chest may still remain. The helmet is a little more of a minimalist skull cap with several pieces, and sporting a chin strap. No wings, but you can see his ears now. Overall the helmet feels a bit more fluid with the suit than the previous one. What do YOU think?

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

That definitely looks like Ryan Meinerding's style of concept art. If that's the new look, I'm digging it. It's a nice medium between Avengers and TFA.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

I'm interested to see if this isn't a ****box like the first Cap. Everything I've heard so far has me excited.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

It was lame, I know this video is a bit cheesy, but I'd rather see something like this:

Imagine if Spielberg directed it.

I think they just took it in a completely wrong direction. He is cool in Avengers though.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Yeah, i'll never agree with that. Captain America was wonderfully cheesy. Perfect for a character that is wonderfully cheesy.

The only real problem with the movie is the quick "finish this up now!" third act. That's it.

And I get that, totally do. But I just don't like it.. like at all. It just seemed rushed, and like a cash grab.

:exactly:

The end felt so rushed for the sake of him being in avengers where he was reduced to a joke character :(

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

New costume is great. Love the more SOLDIER feel. In keeping with what I hear is the political thriller tone.
