All they need to do is form a group again.

It's just going to feel repetitive. You can't top the 1st MCU plan that lasted 3 movies every year for over a decade.

You might get one more good movie out of an established group -- like FF and mostly because it has an epic villain built in -- but Gunn pretty much burnt through the "surrogate family of oddballs" formula.

At this point, the odd pairings -- like Wolverine and Deadpool -- buddy-buddy nonsense might be the way to go.

eh they can do it I feel. They just need interesting characters to bounce off of. They have none right now.

Oh thank God. On the one hand I thought she was a terrible choice because she's so unlike the comic version but on the other hand she was such a prominent member of Cap's late 80's/early 90's run that I was still tempted to go see what might be her one and only big screen appearance. Now I *really* don't need to bother with this movie. :yess:

They just need sharp writers putting out grounded stories, actors with ability that have chemistry with each other, excellent direction, better design, better CG and less of it ... more effort put into fight choreo so it doesn't look like a video game, a solid plan and a little restraint.

...and this lamp.

Just got back from seeing this about an hour ago. This was actually a solid movie that could have risen to Winter Soldier level if not for one thing - the marketing. Knowing beforehand that Ross turns into Red Hulk completely undermines the climax of the movie. Whoever decided that information needed to be in all the trailers and plastered on all the posters should be fired immediately. :slap What should have been an epic, surprise 3rd act reveal instead plays like an overdue inevitability. As soon as Ross pops his first heart pill early in the film I'm like, "well, now I know how Sterns is dosing him with gamma radiation". I still enjoyed my viewing (I thought both Mackie and Ford brought their A games), but I can't help feeling that a potentially GREAT time at the movies was stolen from me.
I totally agree with this take. I enjoyed the movie. It had ups and downs, but overall it's a solid entry in the same family as CA:TWS. They could and should have kept Red Hulk under wraps for as long as possible, but if guess if you know leaks are going to happen you just lean into it maybe? I'm very surprised we haven't heard more complaining about
.
D-Man dying so quickly! Not expecting him at all, I was excited to see more of him down the line as a support character.

Having all the characters works great in the comics, but it takes a lot of discipline and skill to make each one work on screen, and I think Feigi just ran out of talented creators who knew how to make that happen.

Plus I think audiences became far more attached to that core Phase 1 group than Marvel expected, and so once their stories were wrapped up with Endgame audiences decided it was time to move on.

For me there is zero superhero movie burnout give me a well constructed super intriguing superhero movie and I’ll be there opening night first show every single time, multiple viewings!

I grew up with these characters.

I love these characters.

Stop giving us crap and i’ll spend the money with zero hesitation.

those core phase 1 actors are extremely iconic and extremely Charismatic and really epic on screen, all of them. the core avengers,

everyone around the entire planet recognizes them on screen and loved them.

marvel and Disney thought that people only liked the superhero aspect of marvel and they thought they could just replace the actors. but they can't. no one will care about some of the new characters like the new falcon guy Joaquin or iron heart or some of these others,

I feel bad for the actors but people aren't as invested anymore. not even for the new Hawkeye girl or any of them. it's not the fault of the actors, but the way they were introduced and handled, it's just not the same.
same thing kinda happened with star wars ironically.

All they need to do is form a group again. Nobody cares about eternals, captain marvel and her teen team or Shang chi or shuri . And nobody is gonna care about the thunderbolts and the team of nobodies.

They NEED to bring in characters that made marvel great in the first place. The characters that built marvel. None of this z list crap. It’s a damn shame blade gets side lined while crap like Agatha get green lit.

FF is getting huge fanfare cause they are characters people actually want to see. People could give to ***** about the characters they have now and that’s the problem. People wanted to see phase 1 characters interact cause even though they were c list at that time they built marvel into what it is today
but a group of what heroes?
who do you group? x men?

Apparently this movie needs $425 million to BREAK EVEN.

If true that is insane.

Hollywood is not sustainable. What the hell are they doing, aside from money laundering.

I'd take that with a grain of salt. I've also heard the film already made it's budget back in the first weekend, so who knows? The official numbers will come out in a few months.

The budget you see on Wikipedia and other sites is not the real budget though. That figure doesn't include marketing costs etc.

This film went through extensive reshoots, amongst other issues, too.

This movie cost a bundle. Some YouTubers "with inside knowledge" report the original budget nearly doubled with the reshoots and all the changes. So the budget just for the movie, without marketing, could be in the $360mil range. The reported $180mil was the initial filming budget. And with Marketing that could balloon to well over $400mil. Disney will lie like usual. Remember this movie was delayed from its original date of May 2024 due to all the problems.

Don't know how people still don't understand why it's said a movie has to do 3x it's FULL budget (including the undisclosed marketing budget) to be considered profitable. Making 2x just barely is the break even point. The numbers reported are Gross, not Net. The studio only gets around 50% of the profits. There's even an interview with Matt Damon explaining it. So this movie needs like $800mil just to break even.

I think the more likely and logical question is, how much money will this movie LOSE for Disney..
