I’m definitely not going to go watch this after reading how dirty the Betsy Ross character was treated.

They hyped the return of Betsy/Liv yet her red carpet walk was longer than her movie role, like seriously WTF Marvel.

Betsy freaking Ross is just a pointless cameo, :slap

This movie is a reshoot mess.

What...?

The chick that made the American flag? Why is she in this?

Oh wow. I was just joking the other day about how Sam is now just a hodge-podge of half a dozen other heroes with his Falcon wings, Ant-Man mask, Cap shield, and now BP suit??? Sheesh.
I'm marginally ok with the Wakanda suit and nano-tech because, realistically, without it he wouldn't last long against any sort of super human threat... I also would've been ok with him taking the serum for the good of the world... I could see that as a kind of sacrifice that might've worked if the tech somehow was compromised. I'll see this on D+ but it sounds relatively ok to me...

Just got back from seeing this about an hour ago. This was actually a solid movie that could have risen to Winter Soldier level if not for one thing - the marketing. Knowing beforehand that Ross turns into Red Hulk completely undermines the climax of the movie. Whoever decided that information needed to be in all the trailers and plastered on all the posters should be fired immediately. :slap What should have been an epic, surprise 3rd act reveal instead plays like an overdue inevitability. As soon as Ross pops his first heart pill early in the film I'm like, "well, now I know how Sterns is dosing him with gamma radiation". I still enjoyed my viewing (I thought both Mackie and Ford brought their A games), but I can't help feeling that a potentially GREAT time at the movies was stolen from me.
Spot on! If that would have been kept a secret, it would have elevated this movie higher.

Marvel saw what they had and went into "get butts into seats mode" with the Hulk marketing.

That's the inherent problem the MCU is facing. Everything has to get bigger and bigger. It's not enough to have Cap. You've gotta throw in something big, something new. It started with the trailers for Ragnarok that spoiled the Hulk's surprise appearance

That’s a spoiler that really got to me. I avoid trailers and industry talk at all costs nowadays, but that could have been a magical moment if it were not for the marketing.

IMO, that and Maul’s second lightsaber were among the greatest missed opportunities spoiled by trailers.

I think the MCu fell off for me and I say this alot was Wandavision. I felt like they treated me like i was an idiot throughout the entire show. They promised this huge payoff and something that woul dlead into the multiverse and it all lead to absolutly nothing.
Absolutly nothing. A lead in to a new Captain marvel movie? Yay? Scarlett Witch origin was stupid and didn't need any delving into. If you aren't gonna commit to her being a mutant then I don't give ****.

The biggest offense was that Ralph Boner crap. I just felt so offended. Like it literally marvel telling me.
"Yes we will put out crap like this and you will watch it cause it has the marvel name on it,"
ANd since No way home there was a sharp decline in MCU content and I remember walking out of Black panther 2 thinking it was such a waste of time and one of the worst movies i've ever watched. Like it literally was a 2 hr movie trying to make you sad. ALL they needed to do was recast but they wanted to make money off people's pain. So yea after that I stopped watching most MCU films.

The reson I watched Deadpool and Wolverine is cause it did deliver what I wanted and I love Wolverine but sheesh everything else coming and that may come i'm not excited for and if that next Spiderman movie isn't a street level movie invoving the black suit I won't be as interested. Tired of Peter and his dumb friends fighting together to defeat a huge threat.

FF4 looks good and I want to see the mutants so hopefully thats good. But yea these last few years starting with I think 2020 has been a real downward spiral. I remember people were super hyped for that Black widow movie before covid hit and during that time all you needed was a marvel logo and it would sell a billion.

Deadpool and wolverine is also very badly written. awful plot. everyone was just happy about the jokes and cameos and I understand that people wanted to have a good time,
but it's awful writing. take Deadpool away and take away the jokes and take away the cameos and you have an awful story. it's full of plot holes.

there hasn't been a great marvel recently.

And they're right.

I remember in the 80's when that whole "magical little ET friend" stuff was so over yet they kept making that crap for years right up until 'Batteries Not Included'. I feel like "the Marvel style" is in that state right now. So tired, so over...

I don't know if they're smart enough to dial it down. He's alone and unknown now so at least there's an opportunity there.

Can you imagine a street level Spidey series, like we got for Daredevil? But that definitely won't happen.
