It was Robert Downey Jr. who first suggested that Mark Ruffalo will appear in Captain America: Civil War, but several people involved with the movie have since denied that the Green Goliath is going to show up. In fact, it's been made clear that The Hulk is being saved for Thor: Ragnarok, but has Anthony Mackie now spoiled the surprise? Here's what he had to say in a recent interview on Radio 1's "Movies with Ali Plumb" podcast.

"Having seen the movie, it’s Marvel’s best movie so far. And I’m being honest – if a Marvel movie sucks, a movie in the Marvel universe, I’ll tell you it sucked. Winter Soldier and (the first) Iron Man are probably Marvel’s two best movies, and I feel like (Civil War) beats both of those movies. It’s really, really good. It’s because it’s more of an acting movie than an action movie. I feel like the story is very concise and interesting, and you get to see Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans and Scarlett Johannson and Mark Ruffalo and everybody just do really, really good ACTING. And then there’s action in it. I think it might be the first superhero movie that might be up for Best Picture."

Should've wrote "Earth's mightiest heroes kick off".
Crimeful missopportunity or just a dumb "wink-wink" moment by EMPIRE?
Most likely the latter.

I agree that Iron Man and Winter Soldier are my favorite Marvel films, and it's fantastic to read that it's more of an acting movie than an action movie. My favorite scenes in the Marvel movies so far have been all the banter between Tony and Pepper, and the the scenes with Steve and Peggy. Whenever I watch movies or tv, I'm always multi-tasking when watching stuff or half-asleep, so I don't get a chance to pay attention to the action. I'm sure the action will be great too, but this is awesome news for me!

Thanks for posting! The fact that he's saying that he thinks it's worthy of best picture is so awesome! I can't wait. Still glad they're keeping Zemo a secret because he's my most anticipated character.

Also, love the cover!

Why doesn't the first Avengers get any love? That's easily my favourite.

Mackie seems more into character and acting, Avengers is one of the most entertaining and does and amazing job at handling all the characters, but Iron Man and Winter Soldier were very character oriented, especially with Steve and Tony coming to grips with the world they are apart of and deciding to change it against the odds.

From that perspective I'd agree with Mackie.

Even after TWS, GOTG, AoU and Ant-Man it's still the best in my opinion. Well paced, great action, and, most importantly, it was brilliantly entertaining.

Good point well made, MaulFan. That would make sense.

I like Mackie and think what he says about CW is great! Hope he's right. I will add GOTG to the list of Marvel's best however!

Best:
The Winter Soldier
The First Avenger
Iron Man

Worst:
The Duck World
Iron Joke 3
Age of Ultra Fail

Everyone seems to forget about it now. I still view it as the most successful Marvel film - I get a real buzz every time I watch it.
Me too. It's a movie I can watch with other people or by myself because I enjoy it so much. I'll only watch WS if someone else is watching it for the first time.

That's how I am. I can't say "best" since they're different types of movies, but I just prefer more intimate character oriented movies like Iron Man and the Winter Soldier. That's also why Batman Begins is my DC movie because of it being the most intimate look at Bruce's character.
