He didn't say $180 was bad at all. Again, listen to what he actually said before posting comments. He talks about the general audience and the symbiotic relationship WB and Disney have and how they affect one another and how both studios want and need each other to do well :)

I didnt have headphones to listen to what he said. I was just making a statement that $180 million aint bad. Wasnt saying anything against his claim.

Why do people need someone to die so desperately? We just had someone die in age of ultron. Clearly the heroes had no desire to really kill each other (except for Panther--whom would have succeeded in killing Bucky if not for other people jumping in a few times) until the very end.

Do people really want to see the avengers take on Thanos without Cap or RDJ?

Come on people. The movie relied on acting, action and a strong plot and not using a character's death as bait to add to the weight of the film. It stood tall without it.

Fantastic film.

Especially if said character was going to be somehow resurrected anyway..like some floating rocks over the casket.

This movie proved how each of these actors have truly grown into their on-screen counterparts. Evans and Downey brought their A-game (as needed for this film to hit), but characters like Falcon and War Machine were really written in memorable ways. I consider both Mackie and Cheadle to be strong actors but their characters were really written more favorably this time. Vision and Ant-Man followed up with the great momentum they had in the last films. Everybody delivered. More impressive still that Boseman and Holland looked so natural so quickly since it has taken some of these experienced actors to really get traction. Hell, even Evans feels like a more commanding presence since Winter Soldier than any film before it.

It did fantastic numbers- we'll see what it does week two.

For me, I think Incredible Hulk, Antman, Thor 2, Avengers 1 and Age of Ultron, Iron Man 2 and 3 are just straight up bad cheesy comic book movies. Then Cap 1, Thor 1 are okay superhero movies but very forgettable in my opinion. Guardians, The Winter Soldier, and Civil War are solid entertaining superhero movies, and the only movie I consider in the universe to actually be a straight up good movie, is Iron Man. I just find that most of these movies are forgettable.
.

I bolded the films you were wrong about :) I would put Guardians in the Average section and the films that you put in the bad cheesy comic films I would move up to above average and in case of the Avengers 1 I would put up there with one of the best Comic movies.

Btw.. There are MCU films I hate so I am not blind to issues that the films can have... Some have more then others for sure and there still is not what I would call a Perfect MCU film that has been made yet. Perfect entertainment... YES... Perfect film... No. And I am fine with that.

Well I guess it depends on what you're comparing it to. I think the MCU films are among the better action movies released today. I would chose any of them in a heartbeat over your random Vin Diesel, Liam Neeson, Keanu Reeves, or Jason Statham joint. Bourne movies are a bit more sophisticated, but not by much. Compared to the cheeseball '80s and '90s action fests by Van Damme, Arnold, and Sly Stallone, they're generally better (with some obvious exceptions). They wipe the floor with anything WB has come up with apart from the Nolan films thus far. So, are they Oscar contenders? No. But very few comic movies are likely to be. It's not the audience they are looking to entertain. I would actually equate them with many of the Tom Cruise movies that have come out in recent years. Very entertaining, and good, but not really revolutionary or anything.

Excellent point... If it does not have the word RAID in the title I probably think its a pretty average to bad action movie.

Hard for me to get into the mindset of the average moviegoer, but I know of casual folks who can't really distinguish the "universes" out there, at all. So, I think it is definitely possible that Batman/Superman hurt sales here. Some may even think that this is a sequel/spinoff of some kind.

Billion is a done deal, should get there sometime in the 3rd domestic weekend before X-Men and Alice open. This will likely drop around 50% each weekend with strong WOM and based on overseas holdover territory drops last weekend. Given the weak reviews for X-Men, that should help CW's legs past that weekend. Final cume around $1.2-$1.3 billion should be well within reach.
