You must haven't have read many of the classic Spidey comics. He was certainly not "nice" to everyone. He wanted to kick Flash Thompson's ass nearly every comic. And he was constantly brushing people off and disappointing them, which made them dislike him even more. The only one who thought he was a saint was Aunt May.

I know but if we're comparing 616 to Ultimate then it's only fair I compare when they were teens since in the ultimate comics he pretty much remains a teen throughout.

So Sony offered to share Spider-Man with Marvel, but Marvel declined the terms.

Shame, If it wasn't for Marvel Spidey would be in this movie and there's no question it'd dominate 2016 box office. Oh well

It's been a while, but I read most of his early stories from the Omnibus collection I own. I'm not saying he was perfect, but he certainly didn't act like your everyday teenager.

I'd like to know what the terms were, both sides would have gained a lot if it happened.

He bristled when he was teased, and got angry and embarrassed. He sometimes stumbled over his words, and tried to give half-hearted comebacks but was nowhere near as pithy and witty as he was as Spider-Man. He was frustrated by it, and dwelled on it frequently because he wanted to be accepted and to have friends. If that's not how real bullied geeks often behave, then I don't know what is. He had the means to stand up for himself of course, but couldn't act out using his real strength because of his responsibilities as Spider-Man. I don't know what Ultimates Parker did, but if he punched the bullies out or whatever, then that's not a realistic portrayal of a bullied kid. That's wish-fulfillment.

Well, Ultimate Peter broke Flash's hand when grabbing a punch to block it and looked very pissed at Flash. XD

I don't think we need Spidey in the MCU till Phase 4 or even 5. It's fine without him. We're gonna get all my favorite Avengers on screen except for Jessica Drew. Get on that MS! And it's the perfect time to introduce her as well since HYDRA is back. What we do need back home at MS however, is Fantastic Four. Imagine all the cosmic possibilities you could open up with Annihilus and all that, if you count Annihilus as cosmic of course. But I mainly want Reed interacting with Tony, a well done Sue. And my favorite supervillain ever, Victor.

Spider-man and Wolverine are Marvel's Batmen when it comes to popularity and recognition.
And boy am I glad both are not in MCU because less popular Marvel's characters are getting their proper stories on a big screen.
Otherwise it'd be Spider-man and Wolverine 50% of the time.

It's more of a realistic portrayal of a teenager with powers of you ask me, I wonder how many bullied geeks would actually show restraint like Peter if they same powers.

I could be wrong but I've always liked the character because he represents the best of us, he succeeds on a emotional level where most of us tend to fail in our everyday lives. I don't know about most of you guys on here but if I were Spider-Man and I couldn't afford to pay rent, I would probably rob a bank or something, or at the very least consider that an option.

Hopefully its not too late. If Sony is having their 'big' Spidey meeting in January, maybe we'll get some news to follow. Its not as if Sony pictures division is the only arm bleeding right now, its time to strike a deal. Still think the news of Lord and Co. starting up animated films based on the SPidey U. is the best news to come out of this fiasco.

Well he's supposed to be heroic. You know, the whole "with great power comes great responsibility line" that defines the character? That's why he's a "super hero." Maybe it would make him more "human" from a cynical POV to have no value system or reservations about how or why he uses his powers, but how different is he from the villains he is supposed to fight if he's robbing banks, beating the **** out of people weaker than him, etc.? What else would he do? Take over Kingpin's crime empire? That's a Snyder-verse version of Spidey that I have no interest in, and frankly, I would have a harder time relating to it than a guy who was still trying to do the right thing despite having powers.

Riddick hit the nail on the head.

If Marvel had the rights to Spidey/Wolverine there definately wouldn't have been a GOTG.

Hell, maybe even some of the IM's, Cap's and Thor's might've not seen the light of day.

Good one Riddick.

I understand that, just saying the ultimate version doesn't come off as black and white, which is more relatable to me. Glad you brought up Snyder, because while I don't like MOS, I still found his version of Clark/Superman to be more relatable than the Reeve version, but that's not the kind of Superman I want to see, I prefer the one that doesn't make mistakes (killing innocents) and is lighthearted instead of serious all the time.

I think most people can relate to Peter through his everyday problems and struggles not necessarily his character, that's giving people way more credit than they deserve haha.

Who's running Sony? These guys? :lol

I think thats the core of what makes him who he is, he always seems to have waaaay too much personal drama going on, but always finds time to be Spidey.

I'm wondering if its been people who are just so used to the status quo that they are in total denial about where the company is heading. Until a decade or so ago Disney was heading the same way; remember when Disney was going to sever contracts with Pixar? :lol

They got the right management in place, absorbed Pixar and the rest is literally making bank history. I'm hoping for some smart decisions to start being made, maybe they should start by looking at the overstuffed salaries mentioned in the Sony hack gate scandal.

I agree, I just don't think the average man is as noble and as genuine as Peter Parker is written.

Oh yeah, I remember reading about that somewhere! :lol

They probably read wikipedia every day and feel very competent.

... has produced, distributed, or co-distributed successful franchises such as Spider-Man, Men in Black, Underworld, and Resident Evil.

Total denial indeed. :lol

Right. If they HAD the rights to Spidey and Wolvie. But now Cap, IM, GotG, etc., ARE big hits (bigger than ASM2 and DOFP) so I don't see how it would hurt for Marvel to get those characters for movies going forward. They aren't going to dump Downey in favor of Garfield. In 2007 or 2008? Sure. Now? No way. But oh, they could do such sweet team-up movies.
