From what I heard, the majority of the movie will be in WW2. I am certain that that is definitely is WW2 outfit, the big hint is the helmet head, that is the helmet everyone wears back in WW2. Even the "A" font on his helmet looks like the ones used back in the day. Just check out some of those real old WW2 based movies.

Of course, they have to really make it stand out, with all the batman, iron man costume already around, if they make it like the WW2 pics that people are posting of him with where it pretty much looks like a military costume with a mask, the movie will tank cause the outfit would look cheap. So they have to have a happy medium. I personally like it.

That is NOT an M1 helmet. lol. Standard G.I. "Pots" where MUCH bigger than what he's wearing in that image.

Here is Cap with an MI on...

Here he is in his Ultimates 2 incarnation... with a helmet-like piece.

yep i figured they'd go w/ that version or similar. i agree that either they should have some painted on helmet wings OR loose the A. all or nothing

I think the wings are dated and dumb... it's like the silver helmet for thor or the little antenna ears on Iron Man. It works in comics but on in real life. I cant believe people are clamouring for that. I think the suit is TOO comic as it is. It's not SOLDIER enough for me. Think Dark Knight guys NOT Batman the TV show.

The wings are highly symbolic of Cap and can be painted on. Why didn't you suggest that they make the suit entirely black or camo. Wouldn't that be more "real world?" And no Dark Knight influence please.

Its like Batman without his ears

Honestly i wouldn't mind if they just painted a white rectangle on the sides of the helmet, it just throws off the color scheme without it

Yes, a guy in a rubber suit with a cape and wings is mighty realistic.

I'll fulfill the role as the uninitiated knave here...what do the wings actually symbolize? I would assume the giant 'A' on his forehead or the fact that his outfit looks like he's wrapped himself in the flag is symbolic enough, yes?

Batman's cowl has those ears because...well, he's BATman. I don't think I need to emphasize the bat part, but I did.

I'd paint the wings on the side, but other than that, I love the look. I relate the wings to the soldiers in WW2 and Vietnam that painted spade symbols, club symbols etc on their helmets.

The wings of freedom? An eagle perhaps? I'm not disputing the fact that he is still Captain America without the wings but when I think about Captain America those definitely come to mind. Hell why not get rid of the star? The red, white, and blue is symbolic enough.

I didn't say "think delta force" i said "think DARK KNIGHT not Batman TV show"... i think its pretty clear what I meant. Or maybe you think the Dark Knight's costume shouldve had a big yellow and black bat signal on it?

I like the look.

I just accept that there are going to be changes to the costumes for these types of movies because I can't see the comic costumes in these live action movies a lot of the time. This ones change came out pretty good IMO.

Now if we could see some type of full reveal for the other Avenger's and Thor that would be great!

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they use the circular shield through out. That's by far his most recognizable detail so there's really no need to pay homage to the original Simon/Kirby version.

Most recognizable yes but I think most people who know anything about Captain America would want to see his original triangular shield at least for the beginning of the movie. I've always like the circular shield but I definitely want to see the triangular shield for the WWII period of the movie.

He might start off with the other shield, but he will have the circular shield during the WWII era. This has already been confirmed by people onset, and was pretty much clinched in IRON MAN 2 as well (because that film takes place before he is found & unfrozen in the movie timeline).

When was this clinched in IronMan 2? I dont remember them mentioning or showing the Captain America shield at all. Maybe only when they picked up the scrap in Tony's work shop that looked like Captain America's shield, but it was never said to be a shield from WWII.

Anyway here's my feelings on this suit. I'm not 100% sold on it. I hate the suspender look to it. I wish they had kept the red and white strips on the suit and not a white mid section and red suspenders. I think they messed that up. The overall plating on the suit was blah to me too. Since this is an artist mock up of the suit I'll let it be for now. Hopefully the suit will look better when it's made.

They're eagle wings and they make a 'Fwoosh' sound when he's running.

They're very important:mad:

:rotfl:rotfl:goodpost:

Personally I dont give a crap about the wings, but for the sake of it they could paint them on. Just as long as they don't stick out because its just gonna look laughable on screen...

It needed to be toned down really, in a lot of ways. Pretty loud attire to go outside in! I get whats been said about Spiderman/Superman but theres always been something just a bit more camp about Cap. As someone mentioned I'd equate his costume more to the Batman tv series than Spiderman/Superman.

But then again I've always hated any Captain Country type superheros tbh :rotfl

The wings of liberty.

That makes sense. Still, I think his name and his outfit is more than enough of a symbol of that. Liberty, freedom, what have you.

Hell why not get rid of the star? The red, white, and blue is symbolic enough.

Well, last time I checked (and mind you, this was just a couple of days ago), there are stars on the flag...

And really, if you remove the star on his chest, you have to take it off of the shield too, which would make the shield kinda lame.

I'm certain that it isn't the '40s version. He's basically Nolan's Batman with a shield and without the cape and ears.

I called it! Well, suggested it. :lol I think its a pretty awesome looking outfit. I agree it looks a little too modern, I think they make it look a little more like Ultimate WWII outfit, but if they leave it as it is for WWII and modern I'll be fine.

The way Colson asked if Tony knew what that was made it pretty clear to me it was a prototype or something of Cap's shield. Also someone pointed out that in the chest of Howard Stark's there was a Captain America WWII comic which further indicates (in my mind at least) that the shield dates from WWII.

Personally I think it would be cool if he used the triangular shield for some of the movie and they show the scene where FDR gives him the round one.
