Ok, she says she can probably add the buttonholes, and she's going to search for new buttons. Handsewn buttons and buttonholes are going to raise the price though.

Can you ask her for a quote as to how much, then maybe folks could make the choice wether to have it with or without.

As you said this is never going to be Kato standards because hell, we're not paying her enough to do that. :lol

I'd be happy with something that silhouette wise has the feel of the real deal, which is why I think the most important things to try and get right is the cut and the colour/length. The rest is all just extras.

If there's no linings then maybe she could try using a slightly thicker fabric to give it that greatcoat feel?

By the way I've ordered one of that chaps unpainted Jack heads, and I'll let you all know what I think of it when I have it in hand.

By the way this is my old Jack custom that I did a few years back. I'm rather unhappy with the head, and It's on a crappy old Sideshow body (I wanted the height) but the coat I had made wasn't half bad. It was lined but I think that only added to the bulk and made it fill too 'full'. The buttons were from a Dragon Greatcoat that I got cheap off of eBay and from which a patten was struck to use as a base for the coat.

Comparing the above I just think It need thicker fabric If possible and a darker colour and shorter fit.

The real coat has what appears to be a lighter grey satin lining, but I can already tell you that won't be an option as she doesn't do linings, I already asked.

That's true I had to add in a blue lining for my 10th doctor's coat myself.

Hey sueworld, you're our Jack expert, the coat buttons and belt buckle, should they be gold or silver?

Well the original Jacks outfit had gold buttons on the greatcoat and a dark silver buckle. You can se it quite clearly on the photo I posted on the previous page.

Thanks love. It could be so much better though with a better head sculpt and the right body. Oh as well as weathering down those boots of his.

Just to let folks know that If anyone is interested in purchasing 'peter the painters' Jack head, that he characters £10 plus £3 postage for those in the UK, or £5 for international.

Thanks obsolete. My suggestions were more picky than anything. Worst case I can have the buttons replaced myself if I want to.

Buttons don't have to be handsewn though. I don't care if the buttons are working since I won't ever close the coat. I still like the button holes, but understand if that will raise the cost to un-affordable levels.

Are there pics of the headsculpt?

I hit the fabric shops today to try and help find something better. Man, trying to find a proper shade of grey is a real bugger. I only found one real option, so I'm gonna send that to Amy along with my Jack to see if she can run up a coat out of that, and then you guys can decide if you dig the material or want to try for something else.

I have to say I'm not really sold on that likeness sadly.

I really prefer the rough draft that Mr Barlow did a while back and never finished.

I think that's Spenser's rough draft for Sam Tyler not a Mr. Barlow sculpt. I asked Spenser about it several times since I really wanted one to go with the Gene Hunt he'd already done and also one for the Master, but Spenser decided it was too big. He said he might or might not resculpt it in the future, but I'm not holding my breath.

I really do think thats Mr Barlows as I snagged it from one of his old threads about up coming projects. Pity he never finished it.

No no, that is indeed Spenser's unfinished Sam Tyler sculpt, he made a Gene Hunt to go with it too, which was completed

Ok, folks, here's the new coat using the material I sent. You can't see it in the pics, but she tells me the faux buttonhole details are in there, and she also added the belt to the back as well as the vent. This material is a bit tricky to work with apparently, and with the added buttonhole and vent details, she says the price may be a little higher than the $40 estimate. Here's the link to her site https://www.ajclothiers.com/contactme.htm. If you want one, contact her and let her know you're part of the Jack Harkness group.
