It was a good movie...not my favorite MCU movie, not my least favorite. As a lifelong comic book fan who grew up in the 80's and dreamed about having something like the MCU I could not be more overjoyed that all of these films are fairly consistent critical and commercial hits. It still surprises me that some comic book fans actually seem to be rooting against some of these films because of nonsense that has nothing to do with the actual films themselves. Oh, and at the risk of inspiring any of your blood vessels to burst...I consider being the Last Jedi of the MCU to be pretty high praise so...

I'm fine with you liking this and TLJ. No rise in my blood pressure at all. You liked this film. I didn't, and that's cool. :duff BTW I really dislike this character in the comics, so it's hard for me to root for this film.

That is fair. :)

The real reason IMO is that's what happens when you write lazy sloppy *&^% and have a whole bunch of writers and directors who are girls who just wanna have fun...but - spoiler tags just in case...

I really wanna ask Feige - who I had mad respect for, at some point - politely - is he even listening to himself. Or just stressed and overworked:sick. I wanna ask critics, whoever wrote this article, and some journalists if they actually believe the verbal trash they are spewing. Or, between the RT conspiracy and the numbers juggling, have Skrulls really taken over the world:horror, and it's left to a few desperate Ytube bloggers to try to maintain some sort of sanity.

Maybe they just differ in their ideas of what is good? I mean no disrespect, but if your too rigid on what can or cannot be, or whom a character is or was, your bound to be disappointed in just about everything.

Thes are adaptations of the comics. I have been disappointed that Tony isnt more of a jerk, cause he sure can be in the comics....

And Thor is too “point break” and not enough God for me.

But still fun stuff.

Sent from the inside of a giant slug in outer space.....

I enjoyed the movie and thought it was better than some of the other MCU movies. My biggest problem with it is getting us to believe that the Skrulls are the good guys. How many times have they infiltrated earth in order to dominate it? I kept waiting for the double cross at the end. There goes having the Secret Invasion play out.

Maybe not all Skrulls are good tho.

She was far more interesting when she was Ms. Marvel, she struggled with alcoholism and various other human issues. She also had a fun side hanging out with her BGF Spiderwoman.

When Marvel launched her as CM, she began to lose those traits. Her comic runs didn’t last long, but Marvel kept relaunching the character. With each relaunch she became blander and more boring. She is now very unlikeable and the definition of a privileged hero. Her personality is more suited for a villain then a Hero. Even with all the hype due to the film opening, Her current comic is still not selling.

I started reading CM with this version (the Kelly DeConnick run), so I can't really compare it to her Ms. Marvel existence. But in this iteration she's also had adventures with Spiderwoman as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy and I found those far from boring. But to each his own.

You're not the first to mention that she's been "relaunched" several times since she became Captain Marvel. I'm not sure that's the best word. Most comic book series I read have a run of 6 to 12 issues that tell a particular story, then they start with another story (sometimes with a new writer & artist) & in the meantime the previous run comes out in TPB form. CM doesn't seem any different in that respect. Now when a new writer & artist is involved the look/aesthetic usually changes, but the character isn't relaunched or rebooted completely.

Second biggest opening ever for Marvel. So many delicious tears. :devil:bunnydanc

Ouch...Collider's article on the movie's opening starts by declaring that the movie's box office take this weekend proves that "a sad and extremely vocal minority of idiots on the internet do not actually matter." Like the movie or not...that is still pretty funny!

And yet they seem to matter enough to be worth mentioning by all these articles. :huh

I think the phenomenon of a manufactured "crisis" that fools a bunch of people into believing that it is real can potentially be as newsworthy as an actual crisis. I think that may be why the nerd rage is receiving coverage...not because the raging nerds themselves are relevant but the fact that some folks mistakenly believe that they are is relevant. The proof of their irrelevance then coming to light makes for an even more interesting story.

Well the review bombers obviously didn’t affect CM opening BUT a strong argument can be made that they did have an effect on TLJ.

But the MCU forget about it that train will just roll right over any opposition lol

Collider is correct with their headline.. But this goes back to what I said before.. Brie will get no blame put on her for her part of all of this from the press. That's what annoys me.

Like I said.. Nobody was talking about this film in any "anti woman" way or cared that it was a female superhero film. Brie's original comments were not all that newsworthy I will admit but it was enough so that she had to walk it back.. Which then caused some unearthing of older interviews and of course her stupid Social Norm comment. Asking people to donate money to buy tickets that would profit her film was kinda disgusting also...

Press will not mention that that is where it all began and had nothing to do with people being against the film itself.

Oh well. I just wish the film was better.

Ironically, 66% of the people that went to see this film were male. Like with SW, males are the biggest consumers. Too bad the film seems to have an agenda against the very audience that made it a hit.
