This movie wasn’t that bad. I expected it to be cringe throughout. Yea there were some stupid parts and the movie wasn’t groundbreaking but it wasn’t all that bad and she struggled a bit til the end. It was nowhere near as bad as the last Jedi imo. It doesn’t deserve all this attention it’s just s run of the mill hero film with some girl power thrown in. I thought this movie was gonna be a hate letter to men but it wasn’t really. It was just meh. But still if she defeats thanos by herself it’ll be bs.

Wonder Woman was better imo

Look a sane review without bias!

Thank you for being polite. Good points. Re what can or cannot be - don't think I'm being unreasonable tho. IMO the directors had a chance to do something spectacular, and not a lot of window to do it re EG. Looking at CM as just "filler" or "another comic book movie" or "it will get better" is one way of looking at it...

tho not sure there will BE another CM movie, since Disney has so much to choose from now. But I'm never unhappy if OTHER folks are happy with a film. Plenty of people love Aquaman but I'd never pay to see that again. Not that I hated it - just didn't feel much of anything. That one's worth an IMAX view tho just for the visuals.

We agree on Aquaman also....except
I think I dislike that a bit more than you.

Fellow Freaks;
Please, political stuff? Head over to FOX and WAPO with that mess.

If you mention Hillary or Trump, your baiting a large segment of the audience....that should be obvious in our current political climate.

From what I know about Cinemascore It's not meant to indicate quality. It's about audience reaction. A film can be Meh, but people can still say they enjoyed it. plus, the scale is difference so anything lower that a B-, I believe is considered poor.

RT scores are pretty much the same though unless you read the individual reviews. The % RT score is just the % of people to rate a film 60%+. So if 80% of critics/audience finds a movie "meh" but "passable", it'll still be fresh with a score of 80%.

Cinemascore at least gives an average audience rating. It's also polled on the cinema itself, so unlike RT, you'll know that the people that rate the movie actually saw the movie.

It also doesn't cover those movies that go down easy and seem entertaining, but a few days later once it settles you realize you have no need to ever see it again. Like Avatar.

To be fair, that's what I'm looking for if I am looking at audience scores. I'd want to know if a film is enjoyable enough to see in the theater. Normally I would have turned to review sites like RT for that. But review bombers have made those sites useless.

Not even. I've seen top critic breakdowns where a film was given 2/4 or 2/5 in the original review and RT marked it as positive.

This.

RT is useless. If you actually READ the audience ratings it totally obvious alot fo them are spam....

That not including the ones that rate a film while admitting they DIDN’T EVEN SEE IT!

RT is a crock.

I’m not really sold on CinemaScore. I looked at some of the other A rated movies TLJ, Thor-Dark world. CinemaScore typically collects about 400 to 600 ballots for a film. Thats not a big sample. CinemaScore grades seem most useful for suggesting whether a movie met the audience’s expectations. That’s not the same as quality.
I think the best measure of audience opinion is to read both critics and fan reviews that are honest and balanced. Also look to the second week B.O. drop off. That will be a good indication of what the public thinks of the film.

Evidence says otherwise.

The very first review posted was a 3/5 stars and was counted as rotten.

According to RT's own scale 60% is fresh and 3 /5 is 60%.

Fury’s eye could have been handled better, like getting hurt during the fighting or something.

That part I wasn't really a fan of. My headcannon is that Fury's seen some **** ... I mean, I guess he has, but that eye should've been damaged in a war or something ... not repeatedly getting popped in the eye for comic relief. Just kinda weird to think Fury's been a pencil-pusher this whole time.

Yeah I agree that it's better to judge with multiple sources, or simply go with a source you trust.

As for second week drops, this is harder to assess. Some movies are very front-heavy (Marvel generally fits in this criteria) as people tend to rush into opening week to avoid spoilers. It's not uncommon for Marvel films to be in the 55-60% 2nd weekend drop range. I think its worst was Ant Man and the Wasp at 62% along with Homecoming (also 62%).

So I guess we wait and see if CM falls worse than that?

Saw it. Liked it. Goose was fun. I liked Fury and Coulson. Carol was alright herself. Could use a little more personality. I actually quite liked the twist with the skrulls. But I always thought Fury’s eye was related to something with Pierce. “Last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye.” :dunno

Well... He did trust the "cat"!

When I think of it that way, it's pretty funny and definitely how Fury would deliver a joke.

This is why I like Predators. They don’t say anything political and don’t discriminate.

They do descriminate! Predators don't kill pregnant women, even when they are armed. God damned misogynists! These so-called Predators are clearly a tool of the patriarchy! :p

I saw it yesterday. Was thoroughly entertained. Although it is held back by the problems most mcu movies have. Oscar winning actors putting in pisspoor work for bland roles (what a waste of Annette bening and Jude law), ugly costumes, lame score, no villain presence, wishy washy plotting, and an emotional throughline that just doesn’t pull through at all. The music cues were fun, the action was fun, brisk 2 hours was perfect. I’m a sucker for A hero’s story so I enjoyed watching her become a hero and go all out at the end ( please don’t take the cowl off it is epic). And Samuel Jackson was a plus. The cat scared the crap out of me. Wouldn’t mind seeing this again at some point in my life.

My biggest take aways from the film are as follows: everyone else's performance outshined Brie's. I like Brie a lot and think she is a good actress, but because everybody else did such an amazing job, her performance felt flat and underwhelming. The other part that I can't get over is
that they made the skrulls good guys. It really bothers me. I kept thinking Talos was just playing them for fools, until we saw skrull kids and families, then I knew they weren't twisting it.
Very disappointing.

The movie connected with me I genuinely swelled up when she found herself at the end and her lit up full costume was a beautiful sight to behold and BL did good in the role I mean sure it’s no TWS/CA/Avengers/IW but what is I mean christ TWS for me hands down is the best action movie since Die Hard 1!

I enjoyed CM because yes i’m an MCU whore can you blame me they are making history.

I think had they made
the Skrull reversal back into villains at the end it would’ve been criticized for being too predictable so predictable in fact that I was actually expecting that to happen LOL

Agree. This was very apparent in her final confrontation with the Supreme Intelligence. She comes across as so bland and stiff. Her line delivery was awful. Annette Bening’s performance on the other hand is smooth and she was clearly having fun with the part.

My biggest issue with CM is how she’s been shoehorned into the MCU. She supposedly has been out in space making the universe safe. However there has been some pretty big universe threatening events happening, and not a hint that she’s was out there.
Ronan on war path! You would think she would have shown up for that one. Guess Xandar wasn’t that important.
Thanos: He was raising hell and committing genocide for a while in his quest for the stones. I’m sure she must have heard about it. Maybe she had to push a jeep uphill or something.
It will be interesting to see how they explain all that in Endgame.

On the plus side, she was hot!
