I really loved the cartoon as a kid. Not sure how I feel about this, though.

One thing i'd expect from this movie is the cast will be mostly all white and ditch the internationality of the cartoon cast.

I actually enjoyed the show as a kid, but I never thought of it as something that'd translate well into a movie. Mighty Max, Pirates of Dark Water, and Gargoyles all would have been better choices just off the top of my head.

Yeah much better choices.

The opening Awakening episodes of Gargoyles could easily transfer to a movie trilogy.

Pirates of Dark Water would easily build on the success of POTC

Yep. Nothings worse then a cartoon giving you a message that heavy handed.
