Yeah the stand is horrible. I just want Rex and might as well get some points for it. I would have loved if they had gone conceptual and given Rex an ROTS helmet or something along those lines but in recent times SSC Exs have been quite meh.

I really want to be excited about the PPO, but... I just can't. Those stands are just awful, awful Exclusives. IMHO, they actually make the figure less attractive/valuable than the standard SW stands (which they don't come with as well). I don't get it. :dunno

I dunno. It offers those of us who like them, something different and those who want to get theirs elsewhere, little, if nothing, to whine about.

If they'd just include both stands in there it might actually feel more like an Exclusive. Because they don't, they all but force people like me to order the clone figures elsewhere... because a gawdy stand as the sole display stand option just ain't cool. :monkey4

But if it was a hot toys figure, lookout wow their just too much. But since SS is making it it's alright. Totally justified.

Hot Toys figures are $165 now! :wave But anyway, I have a totally different view of this forum than you.

HT almost always gets the free pass on price around here, despite being $40 more on a regular basis imo.

Not all of them. The Mars Attacks and Planet of The Apes figures are right at this $125 price point. Same with a lot of their modern military figures, which are geared out to the max. Now... The Iron Man figures (and similar), yes, those are $165. Which is fair compared to Rex at $125. IMHO, the hideously overpriced figures from Hot Toys are the Michael Jackson ones (which make my skin crawl at $199 ea).

Then again, neither company (Sideshow or Hot Toys) comes anywhere near the depths of Medicom when it comes to ridiculously overpriced 12" figures.

POTA were announced like a year ago! Look at the Brad Pit figure, he's almost as much as a complex IM figure.

I'm not really a fan of the exclusive bases, and since it cost a few extra bucks I'll just get a regular from a retailer, or wait for a deal on the boards or eBay.

But I definitely want this figure, really like how it turned out :rock And even at the higher price I can see the value with all the extras.

That's awesome!

"sculpted in wax," wow, would've never guessed... Sculpting in wax sounds like a major pain in the arse, if you mess up I guess you sort of have to start all over again... And if you live somewhere where it's very warm.... "Oh no! It melted..." :lol

I can't believe how incredible all of Trevor's work is... How does he keep getting likenesses so spot on you'd swear they shrunk a life-cast?

He must have started sculpting at age 2 or something....

you might be surprised to know that many people like to sculpt in wax BECUASE it is more forgiving than clay.

Chiming in a little late, but here's my two cents...

He looks great. I like some of the solutions they came up with here...the split-back kama, the magnet for attaching the jet pack (allowing for no pegs or holes in the figure...classy), the new ribbed body suit (although the current style used for the clones at this scale looks okay to me).

Trevor's sculpt looks good (it was great seeing his works-in-progress wax ones to see how well he captured Morrison). In the Rex presentation, it looks like like same approach used for the recent CW Anakin is at work here...not a dead-on representation of the CW animated look nor a totally on-the-mark Morrison look but instead a stylized portrait that kind of blends the two together. For Rex, it looks real good and will compliment the recently released Anakin figure quite well.

I'm hoping that a similar approach that was used with the Leia/Boussh figure is at work here with the portrait/helmet treatment, ie: the neck plug to replace the actual head sculpt and a hollowed-out, properly scaled helmet. It would be nice to have the option of posing the figure featuring the head sculpt and the ability to hold onto the helmet (say, under one arm...that definitely the display look I'm hoping to achieve with Cody)...

Again, after viewing Trevor's great wax work, it's a safe bet that Sideshow has a portrait that can be altered according to each clone character they produce (scars for Cody, Mohawk stripe for Gree, intense basic appearance for Jango, etc) and with the proper paint apps, they should be terrific.

I also agree it's high time for Sideshow to seriously consider different stand options for these figures. The round base is fine, but the support bar clamping around the figure is not visually appealing or practical with these heavily-geared troopers. I'm wondering if the standard stand is even going to work with a jet-pack outfitted Rex.

The HT style of the crotch/thigh support bar might be a better way to go here...

One of the other great pluses to seeing this Rex gallery is seeing a glimpse of Clone Commanders to come...the basic building blocks are present in the Rex figure to present great versions of Bly, Bacara and the many other "ARC-themed" troopers we hope to see Sideshow produce. There are a few that may require an even more unique approach (Gree, and Airbourne Trooper, a Kassyyk Trooper come to mind), but if this presentation of Rex is any indication, we're in for some great, well-detailed Clone Commanders coming from Sideshow....

I can't WAIT to see Cody!

I think they did the head just like the normal troopers where you just pop off the helmet and can pop on a headsculpt. So being able to pose him holding his bucket should be a go.
