'Tis a sad day guys. The kitten died yesterday and I wasn't even awake when it happened. As I was tired the day before, I overslept yesterday and didn't wake up early. It used to turn up at 6 in the morning meowing and moaning for food and as usual, my cousin bro fed it with some leftover chicken and fish.

He said that it only nibbled a few bites and then started going up the stairs. It must've been halfway there when it sat down and just stared at my brother for a while. When it started going up again, it P00ped twice. My brother wasn't feeling too good about his behavior and followed him to the room upstairs. To his disbelief, he saw it trembling and shivering violently. Before he could alarm anyone, it just gave up breathing and started foaming at the mouth. He alerted his father i.e. my uncle but it was too late. Knowing my fondness towards it, no one woke me up all this while. I was told about it only when I started calling it in the noon for it's usual lunch.

****. I miss that lil' devil already. Everyone misses him. I had hit him a couple of times and in spite of this, he used to purr around me all day even if for food or just pampering. I feel so guilty now, so helpless that I couldn't do anything to save him. Like a total loser. I don't even know what caused his death. ****. Bloody hell :(

Am I really the only person on this board giving a serious answer?

Intruder, I'm very sorry for your loss. Sadly you only got to know your cat for a few months, but in that short time you got to see how great they can be and how deeply they can affect you. I'm glad you got to know one and I hope that it means that you will be open to one day getting another friend.

Aww that's so sad the kitten died :-( My cat is my best buddy, and he's turned me into a real cat person. I have tried to help a few other rescue cats. I have been cat scratched many many times, but with what you're saying about it's fatal illness maybe folks were right about seeing a doctor if the scratch doesn't seem to be getting any better.

Sorry for your loss Intruder. I'm a cat person. Cats are cool. At least he didn't die alone, that's something.

Honestly that's the only and best thing to do, You give another poor baby a home. Not only will it help with your sadness, BUT you will be helping some poor kitty as well.
it is a win win

So sorry to hear about your loss. I've been a cat person all my life, and I've been trough ups and downs with cats over the years and some of them are so painful that I once made an army vet cry.

Cats, in their final moments before they die they prefer to be alone or with someone they hold dear. I always know something's not right when a sick cat breaks away from its' routine and walks down to the basement or when my sick cat crawls up next to me. The best you could do is to comfort them, keep them away from any other animals or loud noises and let them pass away peacefully.

Also, regarding to cat bites and scratches, you WILL need to see a doctor if the cut is deep or you'll risk infection. If you feel a sharp pain trough your veins then that a clear indicator that you'll need an antibiotic shot. And if you haven't had a tetanus shot then that's really bad news for you. Keep those in mind people! :)

It's ok man. I know people here just like to jest and they don't really mean to poke fun at your sadness. Some of the comments are really funny; helps me take my mind off my loss.

:horror She was just trying to get it out of her car's path, wasn't she?

The scratch was a long time back and I went to the doctor who prescribed me some antibiotics and said the nick wasn't much severe.

I love dogs too but there's something about cats that.......I don't know. They are just more cute IMO.

Thanks man. I'm just sad that I wasn't there with him when he was in his final moments.

Yes. But as I'd told you - I can't let go of things that easily. I'm not sulking over his death or anything but I do miss him like hell. Every now and then I feel like he's there, all cuddled up in the sofa, sleeping like someone's drugged him.

As a matter of fact, she has started frequenting my place now:

But, I still miss him.

I love cats even though I have my hate moments with them. Sorry to hear about your loss.
Thanks Eli. You have one?

Thank you. Well, the way my cousin described me his final moments, I couldn't help but cry. The thing that disturbs me the most that I couldn't even help him in any way. Hell, I don't even know what caused his death; makes me feel so helpless.
