Anyone here collect CGC books also? I have a few mainly x-men, wolverine,x-force, and Hulk books modern age. I was looking for X-force 1 bloody cover from the first series with Wolverine, Warpath, X-23 and Wolfsbane.

I have around 10. I mainly pick up key issues. Got amazing spiderman 300 and and 238 (first appearences of venom and hobgoblin) both graded at 9.6. Dont tend to pick up anything below a 9.6 grade

I have around 6-7 mostly new CGC 1980 and above. Anyone know how long it takes to get them CGC? I mostly bought and repair 1 CGC but I sent 4 comics to get CGC and its almost 4 months now. Wondering if the guy at the LCS is holding out on me or if its CGC company. The CGC website says estimate of 40 days max.

I have:

Green Lantern #1 vol.3 - 9.8
Green Lantern #50 vol. 4 1/100 Sketch cover signed by Geoff Johns & Doug Mahnke - 9.8
Crisis On Infinite Earths #8 (Death Of Barry Allen) - 9.8

Venom: Lethal Protector #1 (Red Foil) - 9.8
Spider-Man #1 (Silver Edition) - 9.8
Spider-Man #19 - 9.8
Spider-Man #23 - 9.8

cgc can be scam. bought dark knight first issue cgc rated 9.8. when it arrive from ebay smelled funny. removed from cgc plastic to find mildewed. paypal sided with seller who claimed comic was same condition as when rated since comic still sealed.

I have a bunch of comics I want to have graded, but im afraid if i send them out, I will never see them again....
Get them graded at Wizard conventions you get them back the next day and you don't have the shipping charges. but if you are gonna ship then you pack 'em up properly according to instructions on their website, ship them then you have to wait about 2 - 3 months for moderns to be graded. Silver and Golden age take a lot longer.

I have between 20-30 mostly all moderns and a few coppers. All are 9.8 with the exception of 1 9.6 (Witchblade 1). I'll be going to wondercon in a few weeks where i'll drop off a few to get SS.

I have a few, mostly Uncanny X-Men

#266 First Appearance of Gambit 9.6 CGC
Lady Mandarin First Appearance of Psylocke's transformation, 9.8 CGC
I believe the first appearance of Jubilee, and the first time she is in costume

several issues before and after

First Jim Lee Uncanny X-Men I believe its 248... Havok kills Storm.

I want to get the first appearance of Venom. I started collecting comics last summer and Im glad I did. I think the artwork and stories are great.

I have a few CGC issues, I tend to look for my favorite covers by my favorite artist. My most prized is Civil War 1 sketch variant signed by Michael Turner, Steve McNiven, Morry Hollowell and Dexter Vines.

There is always debate at my local LCS about whether or not CGC is good for the industry but I like it, makes my books look nice and display well.

i only got a couple.

Allstar Batman and Robin (Batman Cover)
Allstar Batman and Robin (Robin Cover)
Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2 #36
Wolverine Vol 3. #20 (Sketch Wizard World Variant)

I've had a few graded and sold them off to make a nice little profit. Never saw the sense in paying the crazy prices and owning one myself.

I have a few bought them because they were signature series and figured it was the best way to make sure it was authentic. The thing is that it became impossible to display really and so the gimmick wore off quick.

CGC books can be a double-edged sword. Like the fact that the grade is unchanging and not open to different interpretations (if I buy a NEAR MINT book, it remains as such). However, you cannot really open it up and read it. I am however in the process of putting a run of high grade Neal Adams and Steranko books together with a plan to acquire 9.4/9.6 books with white pages. I hope to create a wall with these books....currently have 6 up....

Sorry to hear that man, tough break. Have to be extra careful. I have received a few broken books bit the seller has always been nice to refund In full. But your story is a first I would be super upset if I got a molded book. :-(

How is you getting a moldy book make CGC a scam? Sounds more like the seller is the one at fault to me. Perhaps his basement storage got flooded, and he decided to dump the moldy cases onto unsuspecting buyers.

Have to agree with ComputerFly on his comment. CGC's value lies in the integrity of their grading system, so I highly doubt they would have assigned a 9.8 grade to a moldy book. Not saying that it could never happen, but there could be a lot of other factors that were more likely the cause of the book's condition (such as how the book is stored by the owner after receiving it back from CGC).

Nonetheless, sorry to hear about that bad experience.
