I want to get around to doing one of him sometime as well. Just too darned busy.

Looks great so far :) Did you sculpt the hands?

Thanks. No I didn't. Those are SSC Hammerhead hands repainted.

Cool, these look awsome. Love the Lando and the other skiff guy heads you got there. Do you make your own cloths?

Thanks man. I don't make my clothes. I usually kitbash my clothes/outfits. I do make my own leather stuffs for the most part. Belts, straps, holsters, headgear etc.

Man that's a kick *** vintage collection. I had a fair few myself but sold almost all now to support my crazy new 1/6 scale hobby.

Thanks man. Wow. That's an old set of pics.

I still have quite a bit of stuff, but sold some of it for various reasons the past few years. Some went to fund this hobby. I kept the super good stuff. :)

Chaka, great idea with using the Boba jumpsuit for the Duros. I love seeing the mods, you and everybody post up on here. Really inspiring. Makes me want to stop collecting pieces and start bashing.

Thanks man. I appreciate it. Do it, especially if you like background characters. I doubt the companies will get to making most of these guys.

Not an update or anything, just a thought.

I just watched the youtube video of the "Elvis1976 and Friends" custom figure show from NYC. I must say, if it doesn't inspire you or make you want to "up your game" when it comes to this stuff then I do not know what will. It was really cool to see all the amazing stuff that Sebastian, Mark, etc continue to come up with. Kitbashing and adding to whats out there is truly art in my opinion. It takes super imagination and thought.

Anyways, just wanted to say thanks to Darth Magnus for uploading it. Dorgs, brilliant work mate. Super stuff.

thats all, Thanks guys. back to dreaming.....:)

100% agree, no out of the box figure will ever compare to those customs. If I could have even one of my favorite figures reach that level of greatness I'd be happy.

I did some more paintwork on the head. I dulled down the horns a bit.

You give me this, yes? ;)

That video really demonstrates how custom figures can be true works of art. An out-of-the-box figure can be very well done, but they're still mass-produced for retail. Custom figures have time and love put into them the same as any song or painting.

I also think the choices of custom work are an interesting reflection of the person doing the customizing. For instance: Sideshow and Hot Toys will never make a figure of Master Di. There isn't enough demand. However, something about the character was enough to entice you, Chaka, to go through the hard work to make him. Whether it's something about his personality or just that he looks cool, it's still something personal. That's what I love about customs :)

That's it. For me, it's nostalgia. My favorite scenes when I was a kid were from Jabba's palace in ROTJ. That's the reason I focus on skiff guards, aliens etc from those scenes. I had never seen anything like that, I also enjoy the character designs. When working on these guys, it takes me back to 83. Good times. :)

I had some requests for pictures/recipes of Master Di. I thought I would just post it here in case others would like to do this custom. :)

Enaud Nikto sculpt
Mace Windu robe/tunic
Plo Koon pants
ROTS Obi-Wan Kenobi boots
Captain Rex forearm armor(not accurate).
General Grievous lightsaber hilt.
Hasbro Luke Hoth scarf(under the tunic)

Its a pretty straight forward kitbash. Here are some updated pics.

Yep, I enjoy (lurking mostly) this thread more than the main HT/SSC product pages. I'm trying to replicate a lot of the figs Chakaman has done (you know, copying from the master as I go...) Seeing the Jabba Palace stuff is the best, but his imperials are super impressive too.:clap:clap:clap

Its the power to make whatever you want rather than waiting for years for SSC or whoever to do it, that's what's cool about the Chakaman stuff - they are as quality as official SSC/HT images. Very inspiring.:)

Don't just lurk, show us your stuff! We're a friendly bunch here. Besides, if you look at the number of views these threads get versus the number of posts, it would be nice to have a few more people posting stuff :)

Well thanks man. I appreciate the kind words. :)

I would love to see more people post pictures of their customs.

Awesome looking as usual! How exactly did you mod the anakin shirt? Did you sow the hasbro outfit to it? What part is the wrinkled shirt?

Been trying to the shirt myself but no luck unless i pay like 30usd but that's nonsense. Also checking out the luke pants. Haven't found a substitute yet.

For the sandals i'm going to look at roman figures. Hopefully start from there.

Best,

Robert

Robert, I took the Anakin shirt and placed it on the figure backwards. I painted/dyed the "now front of it" brown and left the sleeves black. When painted, it really looks like the costume.

The wrinkled brown wrap is is one of the cloth tabbards from the tunic painted brown. The lighter brown wrap is handmade as is the sash. I then took the other tabbard and made the cuffs for the shirt.

I basically made the whole thing out of one Anakin shirt/tabbards.

The belt is handmade. The armor straps are all just made from leather strips. I am working on new ones for the chest armor so I can correctly apply it to the back of the figure. I am going to use the new armor straps to properly "tuck in" the back of the shirt.

Hope this helps.
Chris

Creativity at its best! Man your work is fantastic mate! I'll write this down en hope i find an anakin shirt somewhere.

Best,

Robert

Awesome work and attention to detail. Keep it up. Love seeing customs as I am now embarking on my first one :clap
