Chakaman's customs, mods and repaints

Yeah, I have seen those. I just enjoy painting. Eventually I will get it to where I am happy with it. Most of these helmets are so beat up and battle damaged that you can hide some of the painting flaws with weathering.

Got that right. Weathering definitely helps bring a piece together. Plus with using decals it looks like you used a decal. Especially on a group of pilots when essentially the only difference is the helmets, so your eyes are drawn to the helmets, and then to the decals. Painting is much more versatile in my opinion and looks better/more natural on 1/6th.

I did some more work to my Vader the past few days. I cracked the head open and added paper behind the lenses to help reflect the amber color a bit more...


Here are the results. My custom on left(I realize dome is low, it's not attached), stock HT on right...

I am pretty happy. The amber is there now, but still subtle..

Thanks Seb. I guess I never noticed the shape was that different, the HT one does in fact look better. It never ends. I will try to track one down.

I used paper. Anything white should work.

Thanks mate. I need to lighten up the lower chin a bit, but he is coming along. Its a ongoing process.

I am using watered down acrylics now. Just mixing colors until I get the desired shade I need.

I don't have Chewbacca, but in every pic I see the lips seem too bright. I'm sure you could tell me if they do that in person. I thought it might be a good idea to blend the lips into the skin color a bit. Every production and promo pic I see, seems to hide the lip color a little. Just an idea...hope you don't mind. Great work!
