Yeah Chris, it was a combination of my son learning about ancient Rome and us watching Gladiator... he often helps me with my hobby of customising and asked if we could start on Maximus (although he gets muddled sometimes and calls him Spartacus!). It was pure coincidence that we started this just as you and Seb began your work.
Here is some of my son's stuff... not bad for a 9 year old!

Pretty darn good! Keep that boy going in the right direction! :D We need to be training the next generation of toy sculptors now! :naughty

I appreciate your eagerness....... but let me just get the first details worked out!:lol You bring up some interesting questions.....

I'm going to include a section for Lord Vicious and Seb, but I need to talk to them about how they want to handle things first. Their participation is up to them, though I will be glad to offer a framework if they like to be able to offer things side by side. I will be sending off emails forthwith!

haha! yeah, sorry dude - i get a bit hyper about these things.

dizzy - i remember seeing the thread you had about your customizing son - i was amazed then, but this is midblowing. to think - if he can do this now, he'll be unstoppable when he's older. it's so great that you've nurtured this talent from so early on.

thats some pretty awesome figures your son has got, you got him addicted early. I used to buy, fix and sell OLD cars, for pocket money...well ive only done six in my time, but still that's pretty good for a 21 year old mechanic. I dont really know what got me into these 12" collectibles but i feel so comfortable doing this.

I remember when my cousin, who is my mechanic partner came over and he said

"dude you went from the most masculine hobby to this'', which i responded
'but you gotta admitted your balls dropped when you saw my Terminator'

now he has a hand full of scaled cars on his desk which represent all the cars he plans (ye he wishes!!!:lol) on owning

Thanks guys... his master plan is to build a 12 inch army and take over the world!!! His words, not mine!

Chris, should we send sovereign latex sleeves to you to have them colour matched to the head?

hi chris, after much thought, i still prefer the resin parts over stretchy stuff. my experiences with custom stretchy parts just isnt good. :(

Thought the images in these links would be an excellent reference for anyone onboard for this project.

Live auction link showing pictures of screen used gladius from Tigris of Gaul fight. Good detail of pommel, hilt, and scabbard.
Russell Crowe used Sword (Tigris fight)

Live auction link showing pictures of screen used shield from Tigris of Gaul fight. Good reference for the "backside" of the shield, especially the connections.

Gives some construction details and dimensions in the auction listings as well.

Hey guys. "Standard" shoulder armor is done. I'm working on Lord Vicious' special shoulder piece that he will be selling directly to you. Also, boots and greaves are underway.

One thought about the boots. Solid boots would limit posing of legs and feet. I'm considering making the boots 2 pieces, one "tube" that fits over the leg and the foot part that would replace the foot on a Trutype figure. This would allow for articulation but would suffer slightly aesthetically due to the break between the 2 pieces.

Any thoughts?

Wow, shoulder armor done? Pictures, mate! :whip :D

Yep, I'll be offering the shoulder armor I commissioned to anyone who wants one. It'll be great to complete the look of Seb's wonderful leather armor, or any other armor version Maximus wears up untill the final fight with Commodus.
It'll be only 20$ and you can order it directly with me.

About the boots, as for me, I'd prefer the boots to be in one piece and sacrifice a little poseability for a nicer look. I got the HT Rambo 3 boots on my leather armor Maximus now, and they are in one piece too. But the Truetype still allows for a nice wide range of poses...

hey vicious - want to order the shoulder armour from you - any chance you could shoot me a pm with your paypal details etc? that would be great.

i also wouldn't mind losing some poseability for aesthetic reasons. the tube idea i imagine is in the style of takara batman? it's definitely a nice idea, but i think i'd much prefer a single piece. but whatever is decided i'd be fine with.

great news on the shoulder armour. and a great price (thanks vish!). now we wait for news of seb's kilt...

Hey guys just wanted to tell you that i receive all the blet buckels in metal and already cut all the armour pieces inj leather!!!!

Hi mate, my Paypal address is [email protected]. Like I mentioned, price is 20$ + shipping ($5.00 USA, $7.00 international).
I'll setup a list and paypal/payment info in the very first post of this thread to keep track of orders. Once Chris is done sculpting it, he'll make a cast and ship it directly to you.
