seb, that is frikking beautiful! that head doesn't look half bad either when it's on your awesome outfit. looks soooo badass!

if i was going to pick out anything (and these are ridiculously so minor that they don't really matter), i'd say the leather could be a tiny bit wider at the shoulders to cover the tunic underneath a bit more, and the straps below the waist could also be a tad wider ( and maybe shorter? i don't know).

but those are nitpicks - this is 99% perfect and i'm f@*;><? happy you agreed to make this for all of us. thanks seb! you legend! expect my truetype and arm sleeves as soon as shawn ships them! can't wait!

hey dude i know for the shoulder but sometimes in the movie you seen th eblue tunic on his shoulder and sometimes not you know the armour and the blue tunic are moving throughout the battle! SO it's difficult on an 1/6 scale to have it exactely!
Glad you like buddy! Next one is yours!!! ;-)

you're absolutely right. i think it's perfect how it is actually - scratch my comments. i think this is going to be one of the most eye-catching items in my display. sometimes with customs, they either look far better than company stuff, or not as good because its hard to manufacture certain things. this one is definitely in the former category. i doubt hot toys could make something to rival this (or chris' eventual armour version). i just hope i can find some boots to not let down the rest of the outfit.

as for the straps - from that movie still above they might look short coz he's squatting. what do you think?

yes i agree and when you look at the pics you will notice that the leather go above is leather belt because he's moving a lot! ;-)
Buddy thx for the comment it really matters to me!
seb

your welcome buddy - i mean how can you not comment on how great this is. the amount of time that went into it, and the craftsmanship is obvious, not to mention the ingenuity in how you went about it. i wish i had an ounce of that talent. it's a gift. so thanks to yourself, and to vicious too for instigating the project. thanks guys!

ps. that pic is not flattering for poor old crowe - he looks like a fatboy shouting for a pie!

GENERIC PAINTING ANNOUNCEMENT!

Kuato, the very talented painter, has kindly offered to help out with painting all my commissions! :banana That's a lot :D. Please check out his work on my Joker heads here.

To keep from driving him crazy with overload on discounts, this is how it will work.

Kuato will offer a fantastic discount of only $30.00 plus shipping per head for the FIRST 10 ORDERS of each of my commissions. after the first 10 orders, his regular price of $45.00 plus shipping per head comes back into effect.

So, we will need to set up a list, first come, first served, to get the discount and post discount paint services of Kuato.

The paint transaction will be a separate transaction directly with kuato. Payment details will be announced once we get a list filled up! If you get in line for the FIRST 10 DISCOUNT then drop out later, the list will move up and whoever was next in line at the FULL PRICE will be bumped up to the FIRST 10 DISCOUNT.

MAXIMUS SPECIFIC PAINTING ANNOUNCEMENT!

Kuato will only be able to accommodate painting the head, which will have greater level of complexity than usual due to the open mouth.

The armor only requires a little paint to highlight the silver metallic bits if I cast the armor from black pigmented resin. I can experiment a little once I cast in order to see how much time it will take. Depending on that, one solution might be that I will include the painting of the armor for free. Notice the emphasis on "might".:D

awesome news on kuato too! i'm in for him paiting the armour for me. i take it it's separate prices for the armour and head sculpt?

TUNIC ANNOUNCEMENT

Michael Chong, the fellow who will be providing the slave tunics for us (and the Joker Nurse uniform!) has sourced the fabric. He says it's nice and coarse, like a slave would wear, and the color matches well. We are going to try to fray the edges so it looks nice and rough like in the film.

The price will be $25.00 for the tunic. I believe we will be paying Michael directly, but I will be distributing them with the armor to save shipping charges. We'll do a run of 10 to start unless there is demand for more. So please let me know and I'll get a tunic list together.

well, the armour thing sounds just fine - i'd be more than happy to you to do your thing on it.

put me down for a tunic. seems like this project is really rolling now. can't wait for more news on the other parts like the boots and gladius. keep us posted!

GLADIUS SWORD ANNOUNCEMENT

I will be sculpting a gladius. After all, Maximus needs a sword! I will be providing it Painted for $20.00 or Unpainted for $15.00.

Again, I'll combine shipping to save you a few bucks! Unless you just want a sword for some reason!

Hey Chris, do you mind adding all of the info in one post and give us a total for all of your work, plus Kuato's paint job plus the tunic. I am in for all but don't want to miss out on something in case I didn't see it. Thanks.

So Chris, how do we secure a place for Maximus head painting.

I'll also need that gladius sword & tunic.

Any news on boots?

With the rubber sleeve covers, who should we be sending them to get them colour matched?

so far i'm in for the tunic and 2x gladius and the complementary colloseum diaorama you mentioned. just so you know...:D

and i'm with illnoosh - boots would be very welcome as the next update. oh, and also news of vicious's shoulder armour.

you probably have tons of reference pics already. but just in case, there are quite a few places selling replica swords and helmets from the movie:

Yeah, I got a few things out of the way and I'm trying to get caught up!

On another topic..... we were talking about chariots earlier and I mentioned my experience with model kits..... It got me thinking back into the distant past! :D Well, I went poking around in my garage last night, and deep within a mound of boxes I found a couple of my kits, unopened.

I had a few samples I received at the time, but, believe it or not, I have never in my whole life, until now, put together one of my model kits! So, I found my Revel Models Jurassic Park II T-Rex model and my Lindberg Models (Revel later bought them out) classic Godzilla kit. And I decided to build my T-Rex!

I took photos to document this momentous occasion :rotfl..... A Boy and His Dino, I call it! Instructions!?! I don't need no stinking intstuctions! I sculpted the darn thing, I..... uh, I....... I forgot to put the tongue in the mouth. OK, so I did have to refer the instructions. Though I did modify the tongue so it's visible, unlike the standard configuration..... so, there! :naughty
