Yeah, that looks like a standard, not so great, chrome paint application, where the grain is killing the shine and making it look dull.

From those close up pics from THX, I can clearly notice many cast flaws and overall the sharpness of mech part gets blurt.

Looks like they ran that piece through a body shop using Silver metallic.

We should not see metallic flakes. It needs to have a more mirror-like finish....

They've had the completed Stathe for weeks. Still couldn't display him without support either :huh

I think the prototype is engineered differently than the production pieces in that it can move so they chose to stabilize it for the show. I also brought up those pics on the other forum. Hopefully it's just the lights and flashes, etc. that is making it look like that.

They only had 15 so I went ahead and pulled the trigger. This will look great. Always wanted an endo

I hope you were able to pull the trigger yesterday as it is now $100 more than it was yesterday. That last photo with the grainy, silver paint finish and bad casting scared me off this piece. I'm still considering the Arnold 1/4 Guardian, however.

Lol yea unfortunately I didn't keep up with the show or the board so I just now saw this. Had to pay the extra 100 which I'm bumming on but I'd be in an even worse mood if I missed out entirely. Last pic does look scary but mabes they rushed it for the show. I'd rather pull the trigger now and sell it later on down the line, then miss out on the PO then pay twice the price cause it came out amazing

Really hope the finish is what we all want and looking screen accurate. The pics and finish from THX (and Big Thanks to THX for the awesome photos, like usual!) did have me wondering. Seriously looking forward to adding this to the collection and hoping the finish will be as expected from CC.

I think we are so used to the prototypes being so much better in this hobby, that we forget it is generally the other way around in most walks of life. A prototype is just that, a practice with which you test things and then improve them on the final pieces. Let's hope this is indeed the case...

This is the proto, I actually expect the production paint to be ten time better. The finish on our 1-1 Skulls was far and beyond what I had hoped for in the end.

The 1-1 Skull on display at SDCC is a production piece that was air freighted in advance of the shipment.

It is the case, you can macro anything and find flaws. The paint process is so difficult that it's either smooth or looks like sand. With the 1-1 Skull it far exceeded my expectations. It was indeed better than our Prototype in many ways. This paint process is very difficult and I admit I'm no expert, I did the best I could on the 1/4 prototypes.

There are less than 10 left in the run...

Paul

any updates on this, originally they said august shipping, customer service never advises you when its delayed, kinda dissapointed in the way chronicle does business keeping you in the dark. very shady

Plenty of info on the other forum, for some reason this one does not get updated as much. Kind of a stretch to call it "shady", you can always call or e-mail too.

In my experience I have found both Paul and Amy very prompt with responding to emails. Chronicle has treated me very professionally in my dealings with them.

I haven't had any issues getting ahold of anyone either. Based on my experience with them, they'll continue to have my support.

Shady?

Really?

We get delayed maybe a few months from time to time and we are delivering product on a regular basis.

How long do you wait on other companies?

We pay for our own forum on the Statue Forum, we sent out newsletters, we have a website and you can email us at:

That comment was uncalled for. They obviously have made no effort to email Amy or look in the obvious places.
Are you even subscribed to their NL?

The 1/4 is slightly delayed, but we are in production now. We are looking into alternate coating processes that everyone will be pleased to see when the counter samples arrive anytime now...
