Here's a little info I found on Cinamaquette's future ventures I'm pretty sure you guys knew about it.
When George agreed to reveal Cinemaquette Volume XVI here on CBD I asked him if he wanted to make a short statement about the piece. He felt that he had to say a little bit more and wanted the fans to know that he have been busy working on many projects and the best days are yet to come.
Please take your time and have a read through the letter below that he asked me to post on CBD. I know everyone will be grateful that he's taken the time in the run up to Toy Fair to share his thoughts and make sure we get to know what's coming before anyone else.
Once you've read through you'll know the identiy of the new piece!
If you would like to discuss the letter please do so in this thread, otherwise to discuss the piece itself head HERE. I'll be very happy to answer any questions about the piece itself based on what I know for sure.
Here's the letter in full.
Dear CBD Members,
I know it's been awhile since I have written to you guys. It's been a very busy year. I’ve had the opportunity to speak with some of you via email or an occasional call on the phone. It's always been my pleasure to hear all of your suggestions and opinions on our line.
Many of you have wondered if we slowed down releasing Cinemaquettes, while others questioned if we were ever going to release another trademark silicon piece. I’m sorry I have been so tight-lipped about the next Cinemaquette. Some of the best things are worth waiting for.
Two thousand-fourteen was a very exciting year. It was the year we finally started to produce and ship product from my new venture, “Elite Creature Collectibles” with Steve Wang and Jason Xu as my partners, we have been working diligently on bringing you the ultimate creature collectibles. In fact the last two Cinemaquettes were cobranded with ECC. Some of you currently own the Reaper Cinemaquette from the Marvel movie Blade and many of you are waiting for the next installment, the Marcus Cinemaquette from Underworld Evolution. I do understand that some may have heavy opinions about why these were not done in silicon, but to set the record straight, we only use the silicon if we need to hair-punch the faces. In these two instances, we elected not to do so.
From its conception, Cinemaquette was conceived as my little pet project. Many of you know I run a company called Toynami, Inc. We have spent years making some of the coolest retro toys from the '80s as well as some of the most popular anime toys of today. Toys have always been my passion, even from the days I worked at Marvel Toy Biz. During these 25 years in the toy industry, I have seen many cool things come to fruition and many things I wonder why in the hell anyone would make this.
Making toys were great and have generated hundreds of millions of dollars in sales for my company, but at the end of the day, I felt something was missing. That’s why over a decade ago, I started Cinemaquette. I never had an objective, just make the coolest figures you can and set the bar to a new standard. I didn’t go with the norm and just make figures that were popular or what people wanted to buy. I made figures of icons I grew up with. I didn’t care about money, it was just my little pet project.
Many of you who are reading this now already own several if not the entire Cinemaquette collection. For those of you who do, I give you my personal thanks and gratitude for your faith and belief in my vision. We have captured some of the most iconic legends in movie cinema. Those who have read through every manual that accompanied each Cinemaquette will understand the dedication and involvement required to pull off such a feat.
As we move forward this year, there are a lot of exciting things in the pipeline. Along with the unveiling of our next Cinemaquette this weekend at the New York Toy Fair, we will also be releasing two more Cinemaquettes before the end of the year. It's definitely going to be an exciting time. ECC will also debut some new pieces this summer and Chronicle Collectibles will have their hands full with Terminator Genisys.
If I forgot to mention, Chronicle Collectibles was cofounded by an old friend, Paul Francis. He approached me last year to partner up with him on a new venture to bring forth the ultimate in movie collectibles. Having Phil Tippett and Syd Mead in their wheelhouse, I just couldn’t refuse. It's been a pleasure working with them and I can assure you that their products will be just as good as ours. I can say this because I manufacture the goods for them. Clay Brown and Paul Francis are great guys and have been good partners to work with. We all come together with the common vision and hopefully in the end that means cooler stuff for you guys.
Keep your eyes open for these three brands and of course, Cinemaquette Volume 16, “Iron Man Mark 43.” Okay, so now you have it. That’s our next Cinemaquette. I hope you guys are happy we are bringing back our trademark silicon skin. Until next time, thanks again for all of your support.
Regards,
George Sohn
Cinemaquette Founder
President of Toynami, Inc.
