Guys, found this SIM on ebay, its CHROME!!! Nicely done!!

When yours breaks or chips, you can repair the break with JB Weld, sand the break areas smooth, and repaint the whole thing with the chrome paint, which is gloss black, clear, misting it with a superfine aluminum powder, (the particles of which lay down to each other so well that it looks like the whole thing is made of aluminum) and giving it a protective clear coat, and no one will know the difference. You could do the same to any broken statue, paint a gold, bronze or copper candy paint over it, and voila, now you have a faux silver, gold, bronze or copper statue,which you saved from the garbage, and didn't even have to worry about matching the paint, or poor brush strokes.

Thank you. I think what this guy should have done is apply a dark blue candy over the chrome layer, so that way it would look like blue metal, which would still look very much like the stealth armor, but with a special touch. THAT would still look like the stealth armor, AND be BETTER than Sideshow's paint job, in my opinion. I'm no cheap ass and I prefer the Classic Iron Man....I had many occasion to buy the Modern IM ,even at retail, but the pose always looked ridiculous to me...the Granov art didnt translate well IMO in statue form....looks like Tony is playing football....also that Iron Man pose is now more identified with the Iron man Movie now...Wich is not what I like to display in my collection....I prefer comic stuff and if its from the 60-70 era its even better !!! Classic PF avengers Display with modern Iron Man will suck.....The New one they are doing will be perfect in the middle of Cap, Thor and Hulk....

Classic Avenger display + Classic Iron Man Armor + standing museum pose = great elitist stuff...

I agree I am happy about the classic release. I just hope sometime down the line we get a new modern version too.

I have a modern exclusive and passed on ordering the classic exclusive simply because I would have bought it just to flip it. I figured someone who actually liked the ace/gary pose might get one instead.

I like the Classic IM armor better because it's what I grew up with as a kid.

The Modern armor is very cool but doesn't bring back the memories for me like the Classic armor does.

i can see people having different opinions on this subject. i have the sim, though i'd like to eventually get the red/gold version (it's not high on my priority list right now). i have the latest version on order solely because it's most likely going to be the only 1/4 statue we might get from ss, that's in an even a remotely useable pose to go along with the other 1/4 pf's. and if i get him and i absolutely can't possibly display him with the others, then i will have to gracefully part company with him.

i like the (football) pose, but unfortunately it just doesn't got at all with the other avengers.

Every time I see the movie Iron Man armor I cannot help think of ROBOTECH. As far as I'm concerned, Roy Fokker or Rick Hunter might as well be in it.

I'm failing to make the connection visually from this:

The Classic Iron Man, the classic Stealth, the classic space armor, the Silver Centurion West Coast Avenger armor, and lastly, the original gray Iron Man armor, for nostalgia, are what I really like. I wonder is a classic Stealth or a Silver Centurion will become available?

I want a Stealth version variant because this IS the armor that Stealth was supposed to come in with a few subtile changes but as much as I want all the other Armors, not with this pose....maybe if they remove the flag hand and make it shooting a repulsor ray or something but this pose is pretty much isolated IMHO.

it's really hard to compare the two, when one isn't even released yet.
other than the overall pose and different armour, it's really a matter of opinion right now, based on the above two points.

for myself i could see having both in my collection, but like i said earlier, i'll reserve my final judgement until i have both in hand.

I got in on the preorder, will have both, but will still say that the original is the better of the two.

I never really liked the pose of the modern IM. I don't know what IM is doing there, but he's definitely not landing or punching the ground. The whole dynamics of the comic cover got most during transition. But somehow, I can live with it, so I bought the Stealth variant, which has basically the same pose, but has the lights! Color scheme sux though, Bowen's Stealth color is much better IMO.
I definitely don't like the SSC classic IM, mainly because of the flag. WTF. Fortunately there's a great Bowen classic IM to fill the void.


The best IM is still to come.
